<~$850 - Moderate Gaming & School

Minimalist1

On-campus, I'm currently using a cheap Sony Vaio (2009) with a Core 2 Duo T7250 with the GMA 965. So yeah, what I'm hoping for is a laptop nothing short of miles ahead of that.

My budget is strictly set at $850 (the subtotal - shipping & taxes bring that up to $1000, which is what I can spend). In a year I'll be building a $3000-$4000 behemoth of a desktop, this is just a filler for that little period.

I've been looking at the GP60 Leopard-010 (or was it 006CA, can't remember), which goes for exactly $850 after using NCIX's price match. http://m.ncix.com/products/sku/96301

Would this be a good choice?

Lenovo y510

I actually looked into that, but living in Canada, there aren't many Canadian retailers actually selling them at this price point.

The Lenovo y510p seems like a good choice, even better if you could somehow get a y50.

Still, if you can't find those at a better price, the GP60 will probably be fine. I wouldn't imagine gaming on a 840M will be great, but I can't think of too many options at your budget where you could somehow get a 850M.
