I'm sure you're right, but I've never had any luck in NOT having bubbles. As I said, though, never scratched the screen. Kind of superfluous, if you ask me.

kinda depends on screen quality, if it has a plastic screen it will get scratched by dust :P and bad cheap glass screens are about the same.

It's a Nexus 5. Never had an issue with the little guy, but I moved onto the M8 for purely aesthetic reasons. Yet to scratch this one either.
