Youtube mobile app now supports 1080p

Just noticed that they have added support for full HD. It used to be max 720 for a while now. And seeing there is a lot of 1080p smart phones out there. It's a impovroment that's welcome.

Took them a mere year to implement...

Any unknown button should be pressed even number of times.

It's there for some videos. Not every video has a 1080p option.

Bandwith concerns I reckon.

The stone cannot know why the chisel cleaves it; the iron cannot know why the fire scorches it. When thy life is cleft and scorched, when death and despair leap at thee, beat not thy breast and curse thy evil fate, but thank the Builder for the trials that shape thee.

I have to check on that. But I'm on mobile? Isn't that where it should be concern about bandwidth?

Great! My device is only 720p though so it makes no difference to me.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Millions of more people watching stuff in Full HD is a strain on their end too.

I don't think that would be a problem. But who knows.

Does the YT TV app do the same?

Think thats still 720p from the looks of it.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

its nice to have the option to see a video in different resolutions instead of just having two options. if i don't care about video quality or if i wanted to save data i could just watch a video in 144p its a nice option in mobile

This was enabled in the most recent Youtube app update. Many of you likely received it in a background update.
