Since it's just for gaming I'd spend that money on the GPU were most of your money should be spent.

I already have a good GPU (Radeon 7950), so an extra $40 won't help that.

For 40$ yes. Normally no. Also that is the normal price at microcenter.

It is at Microcenter, but I only have the deal right now because I don't live near a Microcenter, but I am near one now.

for 40$, Id get hyperthreading. I normally reccomend people I5s and I3s, so. go for it. but only if you plan on doing more then gaming. like game and record, or game and have a bunch of other stuff open

I think it is abolutely worth it because we will see more games coming out in the next time that support more than 4 cores so HT becomes more interesting and the i7 will give you a way better performance.

I ended up getting it, and, because I bought my motherboard with it, I ended up paying the same that I would have paid getting the i5-4690k and the same motherboard on Newegg

I did read your post, and i7s are usually above 300 range so this kind of discount is worth even if u ONLY game.

Hyper-Threading does nothing for microprocessors in gaming when they have at least four cores. More than 99% of today's games aren't optimized for more than four cores even tho the developers like to claim that they are. So I would stick with the i5-4690k, if you are going to stretch your budget at all I would dump the extra $40 into a better GPU. Or spend it into a higher end board for overclocking, you will get way more out of the i5 overclocked than you will with the i7 at stock.

Yeah sure thing and if you would have read mine you would possibly get the picture that I was only stating that an i7 is a good way to go CPU wise if your budget allows it.

But seems like you prefer posting crap instead of making a point. K thx bye.
