  1. I installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 on my system yesterday, and everything seemed to work fine. Windows updates, however, are not working. When I click check for updates, it just sits on "Checking for Updates" forever. I have already tried Microsoft's update diagnostic tool, and it didn't fix anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  2. I don't really have any other options that fit all my criteria. I was looking at the Cooler Master N200, and I really like that case, but it doesn't have a window. I was also looking at the Fractal Design Arc Mini R2, but that's about twice as much as I want to spend.
  3. Hey guys, I'm working on a new, relatively low cost Micro ATX build, and I have been looking at the Corsair Carbide 88r to be the case for this system. The problem is that I am having trouble finding any reviews for this case online. Does anybody have any experience with this case and/or reasons I should not buy it? I really want a window, which is part of the reason this case is high up on my list. If you have any better suggestions for around this price with a window, please let me know. Thanks so much for your help.
  4. The 780 ti would be between $300 and $350, I'm not 100% sure yet.
  5. I am currently looking into getting a new GPU for my system, and I would like something near the upper end. I was considering a 980, but someone offered me a 780 ti for significantly less. I currently game at 1080p, so which of these GPUs has better performance?
  6. I currently have 2 Radeon HD 7950s in Crossfire, and in certain games, I am getting serious microstuttering. The other issue that I have with the 390 over the 970 is that I want to watercool in the future, and there isn't any 390 that I like that has an available waterblock that I can find. Also, my system is Micro ATX, so I need a 2 slot max card so I can do Crossfire or SLI in the future, and a lot of the 390s are more than 2 slot.
  7. I am preparing to upgrade the GPU in my system and I am having trouble deciding between the GTX 970 and the R9 390. The card will be paired with an Intel Core 17-4790k. I am also going to be gaming at 1080p. I know the 390 does have a bit more performace, but over the years, I have not been a huge fan of AMD's graphics drivers.
  8. A friend of mine was just given a system with an i7-920. He wants to do some gaming on this system, but is unsure if the CPU is good enough. Is it? Or should he get something better?
  9. I am currently looking at possibly getting a 1440p monitor, but before I buy anything, I want to be sure that my system can run games at 1440p at decent settings. I know there is a way to render games at a higher resolution to play on a lower resolution monitor, but I cannot remember how. I have 2 Radeon HD 7950s in Crossfire in my system and my current monitor is 1080p. Thanks for any help you can provide.
  10. I just found an old HP Compaq dx2300 microtower, and, after doing some research, I found that it has a LGA 775 socket and an Intel 946GX Express chipset. I also happen to have an old Core 2 Quad Q6600. From everything that I have found, this chip should work in this motherboard, but, before I do anything, I want to be 100% sure. The Intel 946GX Express chipset should work with the Q6600, but is there anything else about this system's motherboard that would make it incompatable?
  11. Is this chip a Haswell Refresh part? I am trying to do a budget build, and, if I were to use an i3, I would need to get a h81 board, so a Haswell Refresh CPU would not work out of the box with most boards.
  12. I need a Mini ITX motherboard, which seems to be a bit more expensive than Micro ATX. I would be able to overclock the Athlon a bit because I would use the stock cooler from an FX 8320 which performs a good bit better than the stock cooler that comes with the 860K.
  13. Are there any really cheap boards that support the Haswell refresh chips out of the box? If I were to go with an i3, I would want to get Haswell refresh because it's more performance for the same price, but most of the 8 series boards (H81, H87, Z87, etc.) need a bios update to use the new chips.
  14. In the near future, I am planning on doing a Mini ITX budget builds, and I am trying to decide between these two processors. I know most of the advantages and disadvantages of both chips, but I would appreciate any input. The one major advantage that the Pentium has over the Athlon in my case is that I have an i7-4790k in my main pc, so when I upgrade, I would be able to move my i7 to my Mini ITX system. That being said, I do not plan to upgrade my main PC for at least a few years. Either chip would be paired with a GTX 760 and the Pentium would use the stock cooler while the Athlon would use an FX-8320 stock cooler. I would appreciate any input, including alternate suggestions. I have looked into using an i3, but I cannot afford the added cost. I would look into using an FX chip, but there are no Mini ITX boards that support FX chips. Thanks for your help.
