Anyone use this program?

I'm interested in learning Japanese. Saw it at best buy and almost sprang for it, but they only had level 1. Some of the other languages has levels 1-3 or 1-5 included so maybe I'll order it online and get a more thorough package.

Its a great software to learn foreign language. It does take the place of a physical teacher but if you only plan to learn certain phrases and common kanji, it will serve your purpose. I would suggest you to use the level 1 package before investing in advanced versions.

Rosetta Stone is a very good program to learn different languages.

It's stupid and useless. It's the Norton AV of language learning.

If you want to learn how to say I have a fork under the red table, it's fine, but otherwise don't waste your money.

You take (a) class(es), use the free grammar resources available online, become familiar with more content of your goal language, and later attempt to communicate. You need to be interested enough to be able to teach it to yourself. Rosetta Stone is worthless.

I have had formal education in Japanese for 6 years... being fluent in a language you don't use everyday is very hard, at best you will be able to understand choice dialogues in Anime and Jdrama. I am not a fan of Rosetta Stone... used it to learn Spanish 12 years ago and it served my travel to Spain needs. Give it a try, if you like the language you can always join your nearest Japan Foundation center. Its very cheap to learn Japanese there.

I used it back in 1992, when I was about 6 years old. A trial came free with a MacWorld disk, it seemed nice enough.

That probably doesn't amount to useful advice. But hey.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.
