Apple launches 16GB iPod touch and it’s got a camera @ $199

Ebenesh

What planet does apple live on where an additional 16gb of flash storage costs $100? 16gb??? I thought it was 2014.

The same planet where people buy their products.

For 150EU I'd get one, but not for anything more.

And they finally stopped charging 100 bucks for 16GB more storage.

just takes patience and a lot of talking to them to get them to listen and they finally did :).

wow, I was suprised they did this.

Not having a camera or colors on the 16GB was a blatant push towards the 32GB model. I guess it is going to be good for some people out there.

Why no update the Classic? Apple. My 160GB classic is sooo old.

causes people want all these apps for their devices now , they lost track of what really made them. An update to the classic would be awesome maybe bring out a 1TB version would be insane :)

Wondering on UK pricing, this is a really good price considering what you are getting, even has some decent headphones in the box

also the fact they are not charging crazy amounts for storage upgrades, and the new rumour about 128gb phones, could this actually be happening?

Imagine the iPhones coming with a cheap 64/128gb upgrade! DO IT APPLE

Makes me wonder if the iPhone will be 32, 64, 128? that would be quite exceptional

Tbh your just better off buying some headphones off amazon from sennheiser or another company, cause apple headphones :L I don't know what it is about them they just don't feel right.

In the whole iPod lineup, the only product that is worth getting is the iPod classic imho. Not many options for large music libraries at such a low price (apple? low price? clearly from a different age).

iPod shuffle has no storage, iPod touch doesn't present any decent value to anyone already with a smartphone, iPod nano is too small for a touchscreen to work well.

Wish apple went back to a time when they sold products on their merits rather than on their branding.

well this is where we have to voice your opinions on their forums and to them to do something about the classic and that people want devices that can hold large amounts of music for a good price like the classic.

The problem they have is though they have to compete with music streaming companies such as spotify or google music, this is why they concentrate on the touch cause it allows the use of these programs compared to the classic which cannot.

I reckon 80% of people who buy an ipod, mp3 player or mobile phone stick with the free headphones they got in the box. It is good the ear pods are actually quite decent

You and me both.

And is anyone even buying stand-alone players anymore? Just carry a phone, it does more and the sound quality thru the shit amp/earplugs is no different.

Sometimes standalone players have a better DAC, it depends on the device but some phones use the audio codec integrated with their cpu and others have a standalone DAC and sound much better.

The original Samsung Galaxy S had a high quality audio chip, as did the iPhone 3GS and 4 as a few examples I know of personally, I believe the manufacturer of the preferred mobile phone audio chips is Wolfson Microelectronics.

So, what exactly sets this apart from the iPhone? Is it not a phone, just a camera (basically)?

Ipod touch is training ground for an iphone.

I read in a PC magazine that the iPhone 5S costs Apple roughly AUD$200 to make.

I've always liked iTunes, it plays my 320 .mp3 files and I like the UI and there's a store I can go on especially to see if there's any good music this month and stuff... And well I use an iPhone. I even used iTunes while I was using my Android that's now broken (no power supplied to backlight) for the better part of a year!
