The GTX 750 should be good, my brother has the same CPU clocked at 3.2GHz and he went from a GTX 260 to a GTX 760 and so far hasn't encounted any performance problems.

I'd get the 750ti, in my country it's only a few £ more, just make sure whatever you get it's the 2GB edition :)

The Q6600 is perfectly capable of driving a GTX 770 if you have the cash for it

a Q6600 on a GTX 770 wut I would love to see the bottleneck that causes in modern games.

What are you talking about? It would run flawlessly in any game aside from BF4 64 person and Watch Dogs

I have a Q6600 overclocked to 3.4 Ghz (with ridiculously high voltage) that I paired with a Radeon 7950 (the same as a R9 280), and the bottlenecks that I experience are ridiculous. In Battlefield 3 (not 4), I am usually getting under 30 FPS at the recommended settings for the GPU (using the Gaming Evolved App). It worked at the recommended settings for my 550 ti, but only after overclocked to 3 Ghz.

I had a Q8400 Quad core running at 3.2 from 2.66 with my 290 and it bottle necked in every modern title. Far Cry 3, AC4, BF4, BF3, you name it, it bottle necked. Same with the 7790 (1gb version of the r7 260x) I had before that.

Ti would be good and wow you're in Lincoln, you're not that far from me lol

Anyway GTX 750 Ti would be a nice card and you have that low TDP

By bottlenecked, do you mean it was running at 100% usage?

to get over-bottleneck you want to over-clock the gpu how does that make sense?

My Little Gaming Rig:

CPU: FX 8320 | MOBO: Gigabyte 970A-D3P | RAM: G.Skill Ares 2x4GB | GPU: Sapphire Dual-X R9 270X | Storage: Seagate SSHD 1TB | Case: Corsair 200R | PSU: CM 550W V-Series

Upgrades to come: CPU FAN: Corsair H100i | RAM: 2 more 4GB sticks | GPU: Another R9 270X running in crossfire | Storage: Samsung 120GB SSD | PSU: Corsair 800w
