This will be my first custom build, so I was hoping to get some help from you guys.

The goal is to build a HTPC to hook up to my living room TV and also have this machine do the torrent work

Some info:

  • I have a network hard drive where I store all my media. That's the reason for the 500GB HD. Also a green WD because of the power consumption, I don't think I can take advantage of a SSD in this case.
  • A small case is needed (mini-itx)
  • Will be running Windows as an OS, XBMC and uTorrent software mainly.
  • This setup seems a little overkill for a HTPC, and also I would like to bring the cost down a bit. The A10-7700K seems a little overkill, although I like the AGPU config.
  • Got this motherboard alternatives http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4727 http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/A88XMPLUS/ . The MSI in parts picker seems better??? Unfortunately there isn't many FM3+ mini-atx boards.
  • Also I'm form Portugal, I want to avoid shipping because of the fees.

Any comments on the parts I picked?

Looks like a great build! I don't see anything to change. Silverstone media center cases are very nice.

Check out the HTPC specs in my sig. HTPC's don't need crazy specs and can very much benefit from an SSD as you want it to operate as snappy as possible. Especially with lower specs, and SSD can help a lot with performance. If you run Linux it'll run even better.
