PC upgrade

Tadas

Hello guys!

So my friend wants to upgrade PC for GTA V. His specs : 2500(not k), radeon hd6850, codegen 2.03 500w PSU, and new 8 gb ram. He wants new GPU and he is wondering if he will need to upgrade PSU. What is the best GPU for ~$240 (we arent from Murica :D) he does not want to upgrade PSU. He is interested in Sapphire r9 270. Will he need new PSU?

P.S. Happy birthday Counter Strike! :D

He can use the PSU for a little bit, but I would upgrade that ASAP

Replacing an entire system and a shiny new GPU costs more than replacing a (to be frank) piece of shit PSU.

If your friend enjoys gambling, then he does not need to change the PSU.

I said same to him, but what does he need to buy for best bang for buck? :)

Anything from a reputable brand. A CX430 or Antec Earthwatts 430 won't blow up and light his house on fire.

Is that enough? I use CX430 with 750k,MSI7770, that is a really slower setup :D

Maybe the GTX760 is a little bit better, but shouldn't need to upgrade the PSU... If he wants, a CX500 costs 50 bucks....

If 240bucks is all he can spend just stay with r9 270 and current PSU. PSU is fine, get new one when it gets broken. I'm using mine crapgen 400W for 6 years. :) . And c'mon guys, it wont light up his house on fire.

240 bucks isnt max, I think 320 is the budget, ofc lower price isnt that bad but ~320 is the limit :)

The R9 270 is a good bang for the buck in my opinion but, the only thing that he may have a problem with is that PSU, 500W is pushing it. If he does not mind spending a lil extra then i would upgrade to a 700W+ to be safe. I would also recommend a non reference cooler R9 270 for better OC and cooler operations. The CPU should be fine. GL :)

BTW, as far as being able to play GTA V with those upgrades it depends on the resolution he will be playing on and if Rockstar will cripple the graphics on the PC version or not.

THE PIT VIPER SPECS

4790k @ 4.7ghz  (EVGA CLC 360MM) | 32GB Patriot Viper Extreme @2133 mhz | Asus Z97-DELUXE Cooler Master H500M.| EVGA RTX 2080 Ti FTW3

I just want to be clear and dont ruin his PC with my tip, so he should buy 750W or cx430 is enough for http://www.kilobaitas.lt/PCI-E_16x/MSI/MSI_Radeon_R9_270,_2GB_GDDR5_(/R9_270_GAMING_2G/CatalogStoreDetail.aspx?CatID=PL_433&ID=535257?

Buying a 750w PSU for his system is pretty stupid IMO.

A CX430 is fine, a 2500 and 270 doesn't use very much power. Alternatives to a CX430 is practically any quality 500w unit. I would look for you but I can't read Lithuanian.

after dicking around on the site, these are some decent options:

80+ is no longer a good indicator for quality

I took a look at the requirements on the 270, they say that a 500W is pushing it so i would go with a 700+ to be safe. The worst that will happen is that The PC will not boot cuz there is not enough juice. I would just spend a extra bucks and get 700+ at least even if the CX430 is enogh just to be 100% safe.

I am not misleading, I know from experience that not enough power is not good. I always say better to be safe then sorry.

700W is  enough for 2 of 270 ..

Is there is a difference between sapphire 270 and MSI 270?

differences are cooler, stock clock (maybe) and warranty, depends. It's fine to get whichever is cheaper.

700W is  enough for 2 of 270 ..

Try 3 or 4. Those cards average around 150w under max load and the CPU is locked at only 95w.

He said he could buy 600m just a little little bit more expensive, just for safety. What should I tell him?

What's a 600m?
