I am trying to get a new case for my rig. I have looked at the H440 but the lack of being able to put a fan controller in it.

I am looking for a case that is:

-Black/red

-water cooling optimized

-sound optimized

-basically an alternative to the H440

(Also is there a fan controller that does not require a 5.25" bay?)  answered

Corsair is releasing a fan controller that powers 6 fan individually, has rgb lighting control and will fit behind the motherboard tray. They calling it Corsair Link Commander Mini

It looks like a great idea but it seems too flashy for my taste. Is there any other options?

Whats wrong with the H440? I think its got a red/black version.

OP's complaint is the inability to add a fan controller not color. I don't know much about fan controllers so I don't know if there's a way to add one to the NZXT H440 either by a type of fan controller or jerry-rigging it.

| CPU: An abacus | Motherboard: Tin foil | RAM: 2 Popsicle sticks | GPU: Virtual Boy | Case: Cardboard box | Storage: Cardboard | PSU: 3... Er... Make that 2 hamsters | Display(s): Broken glass | Cooling: Brawndo | Keyboard: More cardboard | Mouse: Jerry | Sound: 2 Cans of SpaghettiO's |

Oh ok well you could use the NZXT Phantom LXE it's an external fan controller. (Well the controller card is internal but the control panel lives on your desk instead of 5.25 inch bays)

Fractal Design Define R4, Black Version, Watercooling and Silence optimized, 5.25" bays for fan controller, Both Windowed and non windowed versions, I think it hits your nail on the head, I mean the H440 in Linus's video is called an R4  substitute. but that goes both ways.

The R4 is a long in the tooth overhyped case with only average build quality with a flimsy plastic door. Compared to more premium offerings, you could do much better.

Any suggestions?

I have personal experience with the R4 hence I voice my disappointment with it. The build quality is nothing special, the paintjob is also cheap and chips easy. At least on the white version.

The H440 seems like a decent case, there is also this.

@capta1n_beans

NZXT solution for the H440 and fan controllers is called Grid+ w/CAM software.

Will it work with PWM fans?

nope, i asked the tech desk right after i saw it on a CE2014 looksie and they said,

no, but possible the revision might be PWM in the future (no time of PWM).

Do you know if the Sentry LXE accepts PWM fans?

nope, got one and it is only 3-pin (DC) control. why not let the motherboard be

the fan controller. you have one of those already, just get some gelid PWM fan

splitters and done.
