I constantly hear people (on the forum and IRL) saying that Intel's IPC is better than that of AMD. I'd like to ask, what is an IPC? What does it stand for and what significance does it serve?

If the FX-8350 or 9590 had the IPC of an Intel chip everyone would have moved over to the red team already. Except if they needed a low power solution.
