I am planning on getting an r9 290 for a gaming rig that I am planning on building. Should I get an MSI 4gb or a Sapphire 4gb. The main difference is amount of fans. Sapphire is a tri x, and MSI only has two fans. But what was going through my mind was that since I am getting an MSI motherboard, the MSI graphics card will work best for an msi motherboard. Which one should I get?

They are both good brands. I personally would go with the MSI version if you want it to go with your MSI theme

Get the tri-x as it's a better cooler, unless you desperately want to maintain the msi/red colour scheme

I can vouch for the quietness and effectiveness of the MSI's TwinFrozr cooler. I had a GTX 770 Lightning and it ran cool and quiet even when it was overclocked to an insane point.

Go with Sapphire because PowerColor is a stupid name :P

@Sonefiler

*runs away*

It is pretty uncreative, but not compared to the now-changed ColorPower lol

but they changed their name to Club3D and thats actually a cool name and their cards are named after cards which is pretty awesome.

After PowerColor i recommend them

@Vincente Gomez this is just a fact, the PowerColor PCS+ has the highest clocks at 1040Mhz, thats like a 10-11% boost from stock! And it runs quieter and cooler than the Gigabyte one

FANBOY OF: PowerColor, be quiet!, Transcend, G.Skill, Phanteks

FORMERLY FANBOY OF: A-Data, Corsair, Nvidia

DEVELOPING FANBOY OF: AMD (GPUS), Intel (CPUs), ASRock

Big Boss, use the cardboard box! Big Boss? Big Boss?! BIG BOOOOOOSS!!!

On-topic. I think both are great from what I heard. If you want to keep with the MSI theme, then get the MSI one. Otherwise, get whatever's the cheapest and works well. In other words, don't get a reference R9 290.
