hi, i wanna try and switch to linux for a few weeks on my pc. but the proplem is that there is too many to chose from. the only linux distro i have used before is ubuntu and that was on a secondary pc.

If you have experience with ubuntu, use ubuntu, or debian.

Really, its 6 of one. Fedora is highly regarded, as is ubuntu, and mint. Stick with those for now. (or Lubuntu or Xubuntu, both of which are Ubuntu)

64 bit

Then choose whether you like cinnamon or mate better.

Just the 'cinnamon' or 'mate' is what you should choose. Not the OEM or 'no codecs' versions.

Ubuntu based distros are good to start with, good support as most problems are common

even if you dont use unity desktop.

Mint is a good starting distro, they have cinnamon, mate, xfce, kde desktop environments

but cinnamon and mate are the standard dekstops.

Other good ubuntu based distros are

Xubuntu - xfce desktop

Kubuntu - kde desktop

Lubuntu - lxde desktop good for older hardware.

ElementaryOS
