Why call it Project Multipass?  That because the guy I built this for hasn't seen The 5th Element.  I know, I was surprised as well.

OK, now to the things you care about.

With a budget of £900 the parts list look dumb but hopefully you'll see why further down the page.  I replaced the blue power LED with a red one to match the colour scheme for the build, there is also a red LED strip on the roof to illuminate the inside.

Specs:

Case: Fractle Define R4 (With a windowed panel)

CPU: Intel i5 4670K

MOBO: MSI H87-G43

GPU: MSI R9 270

RAM: 8GB Corsair Vengance

PSU: Silver Stone Strider Plus 500W

HDD: WD Blue 1TB

SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB

ODD: ASUS x24

CPU Cooler: BeQuiet Dark Rock Advanced

Other Parts:

Akasa red LED strip

MDPC-x sleeving and heat shrink

So this was my first time sleeving cables, considering this I am really pleased with the results.  Decided to go with shrink-less sleeve as I fell it has a nicer aesthetic.  The cables are tied together using linen thread, local craft shop didn't sell waxed thread, but it worked really well.

Pictures, YAY.

Here's a view of the inside.  Sorry about the shadows I couldn't find a reflective screen.

Another of the inside, just a bit lower.

Close up of the cable sleeving.  Just ignore the blue plug that I coloured with a Sharpie, you don't notice it with the side on.

Cable management for anyone who was wondering.

eR9gDBP.jpg

Well that's it nothing crazy or elaborate but I like it.

Thanks for taking the time to look through my build.

Cheers

Morphis

Stiff cables hold their position better without need to sew them...

Yeah but are a bastard to bend, they do not "flow" like the cables in this case, some are flat ribbon cables and t hey are really annoying, because when you bend them they just kink out and makes space behind the motherboard really tight

The sleeving helps hide the small kinks.  I remember using a sponge and a pen to try and flatten out IDE ribbons, it was a pain in the arse.

Nice clean build, I've just finished my own one in an R4 and it's a lovely case but my cables let it down a bit. Love the sleeved cables, you've done a great job! I'm trying to find some to buy off the shelf as definitely wouldn't get a result like that doing them myself but there doesn't seem to be many places in the UK that do custom cables apart from the Corsair ones or extensions so if you ever take it up as a job I'd be interested  ;)

I may post my build up at some point but looks so tame compared to most on here lol. Anyway great job on this.

Yeah I don't know of anywhere here.  I know corsair and NZXT sell sleeved cables for their modular PSU's, and I believe SilverStone do as well, which is fine if you have one of their PSU's anyway.  Extensions would make sense though, if you don't have the time to do your own.

That's why I wasn't going to post this build, because it doesn't have watercooling of mods or it's really expensive.  But people seem to rate the build on it's own merits, instead of hating because it's not balls to the wall crazy.  Which, along with the community, is nice.

Can the beQuiet mount so it's taking in air from the front rather than off the GPU?

Yeah it can.  Ive mounted it like that partly for aesthetic reasons but also for compatibility.  The fan was hitting the RAM when mounted the other way round, though it should be fine if you have low profile sticks.

That's some amazing sleeving. I was looking for something just like it.

Cheers man.  :)

I hate to be unoriginal, but yeah, those cables, especially the bend

for the EPS and GPU cables, really nice indeed.
