Just got my LG 34um95 21:9 in yesterday! Here are my thoughts on it.

So I'll be using this monitor as my primary display device. First impressions are "Holy shit this thing is huge!" and "Oh fuck a group of dead pixels!"

Ignoring the dead pixels for the time being, the display is an absolute mammoth. It easily takes up my whole desk and it has really reduced the need for a second screen for pretty much every application that isn't fullscreen. I still have a secondary monitor for when I'm full screen gaming on the 34um95.

Speaking of games, I'm running a generation-old high-end graphics card, the GTX680 2GB, and it seems to drive the display well. I'll have to do more testing while I'm waiting for a replacement from amazon, but for the most part I can run less graphically intensive games like Diablo or TF2 maxed out in the video settings, but for games like BF4 I've dropped them down to the Medium preset to get that solid 60FPS although I'm sure I can get those settings a bit higher as I do my testing and still maintain that solid 60FPS.

One thing to note is that there ins't a lot of support out there for this size/aspect ratio. In the diablo main menu the art assets are made for a maximum of a 2560x1440 display this goes for BF4 as well. I'll take screencaps later so you can see what I mean.

Color accuracy has been on par for a display at this price point, although I have to note some backlight bleed on an all-black screen. I will update this with a picture so you can get a better idea of what I'm getting at.

In conclusion, I love the size and screen real estate this monitor provides. Besides a few minor kinks in the transition to this higher resoution, such as those dead pixels and the backlight bleed. I'm very happy with my purchase and am excited to be using this as my primary monitor for the next few years. That is until a variable-refresh-rate (ie gsync freesync DP1.2a) version of it comes out.

Update: Additional information about how the screen handles other resolutions from a comment of mine in another thread: (6/23/2014)

So I actually own the 34um95 and game on it.

My current rig has an i7 2700k and a gtx 680 2GB in it. I can run most games that support 3440x1440 on high with AA completely off. Any game that doesnt support the resolution I just turn it down to 2560x1440 and that will display pixel perfectly with black bars on the side depending on what your display settings are. The display UI has some amazing features in it that I recommend taking a look at. There are two aspect ratio settings that I like the most, original and 1to1. Original will scale up content to fit the screen without stretching it. 1to1 will display the content given exactly as it is sent. So if you're viewing some 1080p content and you want to view it at exactly 1080p you can do so. The resulting image area however is a fraction of the total screen space. My personal preference is "Original", but I will occasionally switch to 1to1 for older content.

I was playing Star wars battlefront 2 over the weekend on it in a 4:3 aspect ratio and it looked great! Really any resolution thats smaller than its own in any dimension it can handle flawlessly.

The last picture is of the whole screen displaying an entirely black image in a viewer. (taken with a potato) Please ignore the white lines on the bottom and right side of the screen. Instead take note of the glow in each corner of the screen.

Nice review. Are you RMAing over the dead pixels?

Oh yeah. It's not one or two. It's a group of 10 or 20 in the top left quadrant of the screen. Amazon is shipping me a replacement once that arrives I'll be shipping the one I currently have back.

download Flawless Widescreen

it's a free and very un-intrusive program that seamlessly fixes a lot of non-normal aspect ratio issues with games

popular with surround users, but it works with all aspect ratio's
