Hello,

I've recently built myself a PC, and want to use my Rokit KRK monitors for gaming on this system. Whenever I connect the monitors to my computer I can hear this static noise coming from the speakers. The noise seems to intensify when I move my mouse, drag windows, click a link etc. When I launch a CPU heavy program, or any game the noise becomes really intense. This is very annoying and makes games practically unplayable.

After some googling I concluded that the problem is most likely ground loop related. I'm still not quite sure what would be the best course of action, or if I'm doing something wrong here.

Both monitors and the computer are plugged into the same power strip. I initially used a 3.5mm stereo to RCA Audio Cable, but later bought 2 RCA to TRS adaptors. This reduced the noise, but did not completely eliminate it.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Sometimes simply ensuring your motherboard is properly secured to the case (under the screws should be earthed to the case) and that the PSU is properly  earthed can make the difference.  The other option you can try before buying stuff is to move your USB device (mouse and noisy stuff) to another usb hub/port.    Failing that you could try a different power outlet for your speakers.

Get a ground loop isolator. I did the same thing. $20 at your local Radioshack (support them before they go out of business entirely).
