Max Safe Temp for 780

So I have a 780 Lightning and its in LN2 mode, therefore the max temp limit actually works. Whats the max safe temp? Is 95C okay?

For 24/7 overclock? Eh, it's a little high for me. I'd keep to about 80-85 C. For benchmarking though, it's absolutely fine.

I wouldn't go over 80*C. If it does that is a sign of insufficient cooling...

Well I know my air cooler cant cool what its set at with desirable fan speeds. Would noise dampening foam help any?

Somewhat, but not much unless you line the entire inside of your case with it...Which is kind of impossible with a side panel window.

I mean if you're running for a couple of hours max at 95C then sure. All the time, i would try to keep it under 75C.

I would also advise against getting it over 80°-85°, especially on a 24/7 overclock.

If you're going for a benchmark, or a quick 1-2 hour game session, under 90° won't 'kill' it. Though, I still would say don't do it. Risk not worth the reward.

Also depending on your cooler (you mentioned air) you're going to get other negative impacts, such as more noise and less heat dissipation. Those fan's won't keep up; although, this is also depending on the fan curve you've set.

As far as air dampening foam - although it could work, you would have to line almost every square inch of your case and you will probably still hear that GPU, probably nothing else though. Again, also depending on the fan curve.

I thought the current Nvidia series was rated to 85 degrees, compared to the 95 of AMD?

 

I could well be mistaken though.
