I just got a PNY OC 5080 and it seems to be drawing pretty low power numbers, I primarily have been playing DAYZ, so it could be an Engine thing, but im pulling between 168watts and 210watts at 1440p and it just seems a bit low, ive set the card to auto tune and its overclocked to 2910Mhz, im getting good frames depending on the server 175-225 the power usage just seems low to me, I have a 9800X3D paired with it, and a 1000watt PSU. anyone else have similar situation?

No such situation here. when I have my RTX 5080 at 69% Power Limit it still peaks at 300+ Watts.

What is your power profile in Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options - power saver? High performance is better for performance.

But if you're satisfied with the performance with low power then don't worry.

Make sure to use DDU in safe mode to properly remove your previous driver and clean it up and then restart back into windows to install the driver again. After that, you should run proper tests. Like any intensive graphics benchmark to see what your max power draw would be there. then you can test in several games and compare the results. After DDU from windows safe mode and a fresh driver install you should be generally good to go.

everything is set to High Performance, GPU usage isn't super high in this particular game, as its CPU bound so idk if thats the reasoning?

Possibly yeah, testing with 3DMark Steel Nomad or something equivalent should give the GPU time to shine/heat up.

And gave before some wrong numbers - at least at 69% power level my 5080 draws max 250W (at least after one run of Steel Nomad).

Have you  checked GPU-Z sensors page Power consumption "TDP%" numbers after heavier load?

Mine shows:

If you have not tried heavier/synthetic loads then try it and see what numbers show.

i'll have to check this out and run a few benchmarks today too, im hoping its just this game, with the framerates im getting and performance, im thinking its fine and a game engine thing, the game is 15 years old haha

Some games just don't take advantage of the GPU.  A few games over the years I have seen my own RTX 4080 at around 180-220w while some games make it go up to 374w!

Try some other games and benchmarks.

What is your PSU ?

Run a FURMARK. It should put your GPU under full load. If voltages stay low it means something is preventing your card to work with full capacity and more investigation is needed. If they are high - everything is ok. It`s just game does not fully utilises GPU power.

Vsync? FPS limit? is DAYZ the only graphically intense game you can challenge your GPU with?

That's something to keep in mind, I have the feeling 5000 series really likes to stay below max tdp even at 100% usage, my 3070 almost always used max tdp (on average)

I also think this is more a settings issue, best would be firestrike benchmark, that pretty much always maxes out hardware (it's boring as hell to run but eh, worth it)

AMD/Nvidia Drivers: Both companies may recognize FurMark and trigger driver-level throttling to prevent damage to the card's VRMs (voltage regulator modules).

There are better benchmarks to test for max power, especially continuous.

Strangely while my GPU has Power limit set to 69% most of the time the different drivers have behaved quite differently, the latest drivers limit to the correct percentage whilst earlier drivers let GPU to peak at 80% of TDP or even stranger numbers. Now it's peaking at 250W, with earlier drivers at same settings peaked over 300W I'm pretty sure.

I think it's a game issue, you see OP is running 2025 and 2024, launch, high-end, PC components

Ah in that case there's probably no issue... It's probably just not multicore functional, not surprising the GPU isn't doing much...

I have games where the gpu is at like 10% usage and 240hz, because there's no reason to boost (running rock solid max settings 60fps).

Likewise some older tomb raider games "only" run at 600fps max settings because they literally use 1 CPU core...  🤷

I see, well my 5070 has gigabyte typical higher tdp than stock.... However I never see it use more than like ~160w, typically more around 100...

(*Might be more during benchmarks, idr)

I have 0 issue with that as it does perform exactly as it's supposed to and it's super silent while doing it!

But, it's def weird, why the 260w or whatever "power limit"? 🤔
