Hey guys.

Wife wants a "new" computer, so I'm going to give her mine and go for a Haswell refresh.

Will be looking at the i7 4790k when it comes out hopefully before the end of July.

But I'm completely stumped on what ram to use.

This is what I've got picked for now (Corsair Vengeance CMZ16GX3M2A1866C9 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3)

http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=wish_lists&wlcId=295697&action=wish_lists

Picked the ram from the QVL on the Asus Maximus VII Hero board.

If there is better ram from that store or what I've got picked is ok let me know.

Thanks

You can get this one: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=186_912&products_id=20091  (much more high end)

Or this one: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=186_774&products_id=27442 and save some cash.

Both look better than the Corsair stuff.

Well you already have 16GB, 1866MHz and dual channel RAM for a dual channel MoBo. The rest comes down to aesthetics and your budget. Personally I like the look of Vengeance Pro more and G Skill has some great looking RAM modules too that are just as good as Corsair at lower prices.

Some choices:

I've been running 1866 ripjaws in my current 3570k and found them quiet stable.

It was just hard finding some with tighter timings, and from what I understand it a little better having 2 modules over 4 if you can.

G.Skil have always been good, just with the new z97 boards was just making sure.

I'm basically taking the GTX780ti, my drives and the Kraken x60 out and handing over the case to my wife (try finding a case to fix a x60 properly)

On that note, I'm worried about temps going up on the GTX780ti in the Fractal Design ARC XL, its a Galaxy Hall of Fame edition, so it has the blower style, was thinking of the Kraken G10 bracket and a H90.

The Hall of Fame already has separate VRAM and VRM heatsinks installed.
