Around 1700 sqft, pretty much all devices are WiFi with several cameras. We usually have at least 2 devices streaming something on the TV.

On top of that I like to stream to my PS5 with the PlayStation Portal. This is priority for me as currently run into some occasions connectivity issues and low resolution issues. Not sure why though as the PS5 is hardwired and I’m using the Portal within 10ft of the router

ISP speeds are 600/200 currently.

There’s so many options out there with a whole bunch of different info but I don’t have a whole lot of knowledge about the specs. From research it seems I should get something that’s at least 4x4 MIMO and 8+ streams but I really have no clue what any of that means.

I also don’t really need WiFi 7 as only our phones support it. Currently I’m thinking about the ASUS AX88U or Flint 2. Budget is around $200ish and I'm ok with getting one second hand.

You will be limited also on what your clients support. Just because a device supports WIFi 6, doesnt mean it will necessarily support the fastest speeds. Just bear that in mind.

I know from reading ASUS has some nice features. Such as AI Mesh, you can build your own mesh system using multiple of their routers (you dont have to buy the same one), as long as the router supports AI mesh it suppose to work. This is nice in situations where you might have marginal WiFi signal. Also the ASUS looks to have a 2.5 Gig port which might be worth it in some situations. Really it comes down to the features.

I personally have a Synology RT 2600AC, Its been a great router, have had 0 issues. They do have a WiFi 6 version from what I have seen. I assume it's the same quality. I do recall my router back in the day was around $200 USD. It was worth the money. I haven't upgraded because it's not really necessary for me right now. The reason I chose this router was at the time we had a 1.2TB data cap with Comcast. This router allowed me to view per device data usage, so I could keep us under the cap. It also have many other features, like Dual WAN, Cellular support, etc.

Multiple reasons why. Interference. We all share the same Airwaves, 2.4 Ghz is congested in many cases and even 5 Ghz is becoming congested. Not to mention some routers or devices might not support part of the 5Ghz spectrum due to government regulations. DFS channels are shared with Radar, so there are special considerations when using that spectrum and extra government certifications. Some router manufactures just dont go thru extra hoops and thus dont support DFS channels. Building materials of your home play big in to this as well. Drywall and wood walls are fairly easy to go thru, brick and concrete not some much. The higher the band the less penetration power it has.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
