Hey!

I'm looking for recommendations since my parents don't want a long cord going through the house or me drilling a hole through the floor. My setup is in the basement but recently for like 7 months now I can't seem to get past 4.5MB/s for my downloads on any launcher, even STEAM. The mesh router I currently have is the Deco S4 system, and I saw new ones on Amazon (picture included). I need a second opinion on this purchase or something better that won't run me more than $500

Notes: the setup is in the basement, our service provider it AT&T

Update: I just found out on the Deco app that the operation mode was not set to access point so it wasn't acting like a bridge for my original router, the S4 itself was trying to act like the main router instead and caused too much traffic for my computer (it shot up from 4.5MB to 35 - 38MB) now it is manageable. But still if there is a mesh router that can extend this past 35-38MB please let me know that would be great

How fast is your Internet plan? 35 MB/sec (megabytes per second) is about 293 Mb/sec (megabits per second), so if you have a 300 Mb plan then a new mesh wireless system isn't going to make your downloads faster.

I mean I assume it's a 300MB plan but I got my issue pretty much solved. I plan moving out sometime next year so I'm definitely getting something faster

300 megabits per second (Mb/s). Capitalization matters in this case! 😉

ISPs market their plans in megabits because it's a bigger number, but applications like Steam will show you megabytes per second. (There are 8 bits in a byte, so 300 megabits per second = about 37.5 megabytes per second.)
