Hi

Due to a stalemate with my provider, I've decided to buy a mobile data router. I've never owned such a device so I'm not familiar with possible pitfalls or the strong performers. It's important that I'm able to enlarge the network gradually. That means I'll be starting out with placing the router in one room and when that works out fine, I'd like to expand that network to other places around my house. Luckily I've got access to strong 5G/LTE/4G/3G connections and affordable unlimited mobile data plans. Any help on this is greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

I would recommend reading all the TOS policies for the carrier. In the case of the US carriers some times there are restrictions. For example phone plan might be unlimited but Hotspot and Teathering is limited to x amount of data before being throttled. Our cellular carriers do offer cellular home internet plans but you have to use the gateway devices they provide, I think T Mobile has an exception for business cellular internet but thats besides the point as business plans are going to be much more expensive.

I just know at one time T Mobile had a 1TB soft cap where you could have your data deprioritized, it was directly stated in the terms and conditions of the product.

At the end of the day you need to figure out what carrier you're going to use. Make sure whatever cellular gateway/modem you get supports the bands that the carrier uses.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
