Battlefield 4 was a bust, Watchdogs won't even run properly on ultra settings on a high end pc in a way that's satisfactory - even Skyrim needed A lot of patching before it was half way to being considered a game (at least by me...I don't consider a game that the gaming community did a better job initially of fixing and modding to be a complete game)...So it begs the question; do you pre-order anymore? Does it depend upon the title or even the studio?

Never pre ordered, can't afford it.

Do not  as I  do, and  not  as I say. Instead do as you may..

Depends on the title, some of the games wouldn't exist at all if it wasn't for preordering, early access or crowd funding.

It's a gamble, but some turn out to be quite good. I certainly do a lot of research before committing...

Preordering AAA titles is a bit of a joke though, it's not like they are going to run out, throwing in some crappy bonus material doesn't really make me want to buy an untested game.

I just don't preorder. My logic is that why am I going to spend money on a game that doesn't even really exist yet when for the same price, maybe even less, I can pick it up after it's released. That said, I'm kinda sorta fine with beta access and early access.

I only pre-order if I know that I will end up buying the game in the next few months and the title offers something extra or a bonus for the pre-order. For example Watch_Dogs bunch of my friends were getting it so I pre ordered because #1 my friends would talk about it and how good it is and I would end up getting it and to add a cherry on top there was some silly free thingy

I only pre-order what I call safe purchases.  Games that I know I need for a gift right away or if it is a WOW expansion for me.  I have no problem paying full price and pre-ordering those.

Too many ****ing games!  Back log 4 life! :S

I'm...Kind of the same. the only label I really consider "safe" right now though is 2k games...Purely because I'm Randy Pitchford's personal bitch, and I'll pretty much buy anything the borderlands team throws at me...I'm simply that kind of whore for the series. I'm the same for the Civ series too.

I haven't pre-ordered since 1999. That's worked great so far; I don't intend to change.

What was the last thing you pre-ordered?

I have recently preordered Rise of Nations on Steam but that's because I know that it's a good game, I have played it before.

I wouldn't preorder anything I have not played.

I pre-ordered BF3 and BF4, I didn't complain with BF3, but I learned my lesson with BF4, never again, not even buy on release day

I generally don't pre-order anything, unless I'm 100% sure I will like the game, especially if I've seen content of it prior to release.

For example, I've seen TotalBiscuit play Kingdoms of Amalur a few days/weeks before the release date, I liked what I saw, I pre-ordered it to get the extra bonuses, come release day, I played, completed and loved the game as expected. (took about 69 hours to complete EVERYTHING (or every quests I could find anyway...))

But, games that have embargo on them until the release date, where talking about the game before the release can get you in hot water, that I'm staying away from, because it's NEVER a good sign, no matter what awesome pre-order bonus you might offer me, if I'm not able to make an informed decision on whether my purchase is good or not, I ain't buying it and I'm sorry but your carefully crafted trailer full of CG cinematic that barely have anything to do with the game aren't good enough for this.

And generally, this has served me well, because most games that do this, are buggy as shit on PC on release day.

That and there's seriously no reason to pre-order on PC other than get a few extra bonuses you don't need... Because it's not like they will run out of keys, unlike the physical copies in stores which can run out.

I preordered back when I was on console. But now that I can get every game day 1 digitally I don't really do it anymore. I might do it if a game is coming out around a time when I probably won't have money. For instance, if a game is coming out around Christmas, I'll preorder it and pay it off early so I can use the money I have in December for family gifts.
