ohhh ma god links xD thanks ;)

np :)

another thing that also helps to understand CPUs is something at a smaller scale, such as a microprocessor such as an arduino. Its basically a CPU expect way smaller and more basic. You can learn a lot from research or programming to it.

I'm not an expert in anything, just an enthusiast, lets just get that clear!

As far as CPU's are concerned I have a few comments and suggestions ...

1) Don't waste your time learning about CPU architecture unless you are getting a job in that field, waste of your time.

2) It's hard to explain the generation shifts, you sort of had to have been around when the athlon X and core 2 duo gen was out.

3) IPC's (Instructions per cycle) concentrate on this and only this, save you a lot of time. Intel wins this war every time.

4) FX-8xxx series and the let down vs. 1100T ... 2 more cores yet clock for clock, FX is lower. FX doesn't have 'TRUE' cores, 4 'MODULES' that share resources ... L2 cache, KB etc.

5) Just goto anandtech.com and check the 'bench charts', than head over to tomshardware, check out those benchies.

6) Single threaded, dual threaded, or as many threads as possible in benchies, make sure you notice if they are doing single core (IPC) or H264 handbrake stuff for cores.

That's all I got.

i3-4170, H81 board, 8GB DDR3, Crucial M4, GTX 770, Xigmatek Vangaurd Case, Creative Titanium X-fi, Razer Carcharias, 500w PSU, 24" VA panel and a 42" IPS. Thinking about getting a plant.
