"Light gaming" with a grain of salt, needs to run games like Far Cry 5 - doesn't have to be max settings of course.

Would these do any decent job?

Lenovo ThinkPad X13 G1

Lenovo ThinkPad L590

HP PAVILION GAMING 15

For “light gaming” that includes titles like Far Cry 5, choose:

HP Pavilion Gaming 15

CPU: Varies (usually Ryzen 5 3550H/4600H or Intel i5/i7)

GPU: Often comes with GTX 1050 / 1650 / 1660 Ti

Verdict: ✅ Absolutely capable. Even the GTX 1050 variant can do Far Cry 5 at 1080p Medium–High with 40–60 FPS, and the GTX 1650 or better will give an even smoother experience.

So yea, choose a Gaming laptop still the best for gaming:) (Options 1 and 2 laptop are not recommend. They are using Intel graphic)

The pavillion gaming, depending on model and specs is probably best suited for that. The L590 and X13 are not well suited for Far Cry 5, the integrated graphics found in the i5 8265U and are i5 10310U and the like are hardly suitable even for some esports titles like CS2. I can speak from personal experience with an i5 8250U. Intel laptops with integrated Xe would be a great improvement, so something like an i5 1135G7 and the like which can be found in various thinkpads (T14, L14, E14 etc), or an AMD based laptop with a ryzen APU. I'd recommend looking at benchmarks though before pulling the trigger.

I've got an HP Victus 16 (refresh-upscale-degamerified pavilion gaming) with a 5800H and 3050Ti, the two extra cores aren't really worth it, the 54w power envelope doesn't let it stretch its legs like a 75w would, just contributes to higher heat density. Plays nearly everything that my 5600+1080 do without sweating.

Buddy of mine in college had a pavilion gaming with an i5 10th gen? And a 1650, and it was totally fine.

I guess, yeah, but the one you mentioned is almost 2x-3x more

Exactly, it's the de-gamerified, upscale *won't get weird looks in a professional setting* one.

The pavilion gaming with like a 1650 and a couple gen old CPU is totally fine for ✨light gaming✨

So that includes games like Far Cry 5?

It'll run it, but you may need to go low-medium, and expect 45-60fps. The 1650 is about halfway between minimum and recommended spec.

Budget and market are also crucial, I can find some pretty decent systems in the $400-500 range as refurbished in screeching eagle land.

Almost forgot Techpowerup has laptop benchmarks too

Wait why is mobile version 1650 faster than desktop?

Some 1650 mobile chips report as desktop? 🤷 That's my best guess.

Why would they? they got different drivers and IDs

Like I said: best guess. I know that userbenchmark reported my Vega 10 integrated graphics as defective Vega 56/64 because the "Vega 10" part of the name was the only part it read. (Vega 56/64 is "Vega 10 XL/XT respectively)
