I got macbook pro 2019 16inch, the temperature get hot. I am thinking of replacing the thermal paste but there are so many options, I have like mx4 from 10 years ago somewhere in home but I think it might have expired. what good nowdays to use on laptop. something good and average. dont need out of think world liquid metal paste.

Macbook already got other problem like right side fan always running slower than left. the air out the back is always from left side and not much on right side. I even though of using linux rather than macos  to stop useless background things running while i am using. I think replaceing thermal paster will lower some temperature and improve performace.

The cpu is i9 with 16gb ram and  Intel UHD Graphics 630 gpu

PTM7950, that will last the longest and will have the most temperature impact.

It's still going to get hot. Apple didn't design adequate cooling into the late Intel machines, and repasting won't fix that. The processor is still going to generate the same amount of heat, and the cooler is still going to get heat soaked. All repasting will do is tighten the temperature difference between the CPU die and the cooler.

Are you using a third party utility to ramp the fans up, so they blow harder than by default? You'll lose a little battery run time, but you won't burn your lap anymore.

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

Even Apple Silicon run hot as they really push those chips when under load and don't ramp up the fan until temps are into the 90s.
