The prices are very reasonable I really expected the prices to be above $200.The article says the K95 will be available late august at $189.99, and the K70 will be available late July at $169.99

ps: considering there's single-colored backlight keyboards for $150, $20 extra for rgb lights is very reasonable and Corsair is pretty good at distribution so you won't have to look around 5 websites waiting for them to restock.

It's a monopoly. Corsair and Cherry have a partnership that gives Corsair exclusive rights to the technology for 1 year (I think)

The one Linus reviewed was not RGB, but it was Kailh.

 

The main issue is that Kailh switches don't have the manufacturing quality or tolerances that Cherry switches do, making them have a large feel variance throughout the entire keyboard. That's why it's cheap. I don't hate to spend the money. $190 is NOT reasonable, but if I had to, I would spend it. However, it IS bullshit that Corsair and Cherry teamed up with their supreme corporate circlejerk in the effort to make more money. I know that is the point of business, but business still needs ethics.

 

And I am not raging over the price. I am raging at how people put up with this bullshit. I don't need this keyboard either. My G710+ serves me fine until I eventually buy another MX Blue keyboard. But, that doesn't mean Corsair is off the hook.

Sure, they're expensive but you have to consider that these are not regular cherry mx switches with fancy LEDs. They have a switch case, with new LEDs, there's been lots of development going into them which needs to be paid for. There's also the added software.

I don't know the profit they're gaining from these keyboards but truth is you can't compare it to previous keyboards without taking those things into consideration.

I'd rather not. I'll just buy a keyboard with PROGRAMMABLE KEYS and just 1 colour of backlighting but with many different modes. There is no real point to having an RGB keyboard except for showing off. If you need a keyboard with green backlighting, get a razer, blue then a qpad or roccat, red the original k70, also the ducky shine 3 which has better build quality comes in a variety of colours and switches.

I understand the development costs part, but the pricing is still of course the product of maximizing profits.

 

I know these are Kailh, and I have already previously highlighted the issues with Kailh switches, but here is a keyboard.

RGB, Cherry-style switches, programmable colors. I know, it's not the highest quality, nor is it actually Cherry MX. But, it is a sign that it could have been done for less. There are caveats. Currently, it only supports ~200 colors. You cannot change the individual key color. But it is still a step in the right direction.
