Questions about DDC Pump - Modded DDC1A-VC 12W

Hello there. I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this DDC pump before Modded DDC1A-VC 12W, they don't look like the regular DDC pumps.

I found someone on eBay here in Australia that was selling some watercooling gear, picked up two of these pumps and a 360mm Swiftech radiator all for $85, 20 min drive from my place. So I reckon that was a pretty good deal.

The radiator is in very good condition and so are the pumps. The seller said they are about 3 years old and he took them out of his build about a month ago, also tested them for me yesterday and said that they were working fine.

I did a bit of Google research on these pumps and only found a thread from like 2009 with people saying that if you fiddle with them and open them up, when you put them back together they can leak from the bottom. I asked the seller and he said he opened them up and had a dual pump top on them and everything was all good. Having opened them up myself when I got home, gave them a good clean and I can see where they can potentially leak from, but then once I put them back together it seems like a very tight fit.

Here are some shots I took:

The pumps

This is where I think it differs from the normal DDCs. Though I don't have a normal DDC to check. the 3.25 is currently in my build running.

It has a whole where the red circle is and that goes to the bottom of the pump which is definitely different from a normal DDC.

Then the 4 springs

And then the housing, once screwed from what I can see it secures that rubber thing to the bottom of the pump. Sealing it (hopefully).

Unfortunately I cannot test these pumps myself until I get a a res and some tubing. I'm planning on using these pumps in my new Bitfenix Prodigy build (currently modding the case, check it out in the modding section - Fallout 3 Vault Boy mod)

Here are some shots of the Swiftech radiator as well. It looks good to me, though I'm probably not gonna use it for a while as it won't fit in the prodigy.

I will be making an order from Performance PCs today and once that arrives I will test the pumps. Please let me know if anyone has had any experience with these pumps before and also if you reckon it was a good deal $85 for these two pumps and rad.

$85 is a good deal if everything works fine. You never know how long he has actually had those pumps and how far through their MTBF they actually are. They may fail after a year, or less, or more, you never know.

Martin did a review on the sanyo pcb upgrade to the pump. http://martinsliquidlab.org/2011/04/16/diyinhk-ddc-pump-sanyo-pcb-replacement-mod/

Feel free to PM for any water-cooling questions. Check out my profile for more ways to contact me.

Thanks for that, its a good review. That sanyo pcb seems to be good. However I was more concerned about the design of the pump, with those springs and all that on the bottom of it. Anyways I bought a Heatkiller Dual DDC pump top, hopefully it arrives next week and I will be able to test them. Hopefully they'll still work for a while
