Hello, I want to upgrade my old system that so far has only been put together from old parts that were lying around somewhere, currently with an gtx 1070 and i7-4790 with 16gb ddr3 ram.

Here is what I picked: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/MhrbyW

I already have an atx case, mouse (logitech mx master 3), keyboard (varmillo va87m), monitor. so I'm only looking to exchange the inner parts of the system. I primarily use linux/only reboot into windows when anti-cheat stops me from playing with my friends, mainly apex legends right now (currently dual boot one ssd for linux and one for windows, I don't really want to upgrade to an m2 since I don't think I'll gain much from it since I don't really transfer large data?).

What isn't included in the partpicker is the gpu, since I really hope I can pair it with the RX 9070 XT that will hopefully release in stock at an acceptable price, if it really looks hopeless for a few months I'd probably go with the RX 7800 XT (nvidia is out of the question due to linux).

Since this is the first time I'm actually picking pc parts myself and not putting old parts together, I'm really just looking for general opinion if what I put together is "ok" or if I'm maybe missing some incompatibility or an easy obvious upgrade.

I don't really care for looks, the case I have has non addressable led fans that I can change with a button on the case and that's perfectly fine for all the fancyness or lights I need on my parts, same goes with for example a modular psu, I also don't need that necessarily.

Thanks for any help!

Then we good. But honestly i would make the decision now than later, 7000 series AMD would be the next target for those who are unlucky and didnt get 9070 lines on launch.

This is my only note. Ive never heard good things out of anyone running the Patriot DDR5 line right now. Not that much of a price difference either.

B650 may require a bios flash for a 9800x3d, though that board has USB flashback on the rear.

I think the PSU is not ATX 3.x. Not a problem, as such (since adapters exist anyway), but at least one 9070 XT (Nitro) uses the newer 12/16 pin connector.

That PSU is multi 12V rail, instead of single rail too. (though Pure Power 12 is multi-rail too, but it's still ATX 3.0)

Cool, thanks I'll just take that then.

Yeah I know about the gpu, but I think I'll take my chance in being lucky right now

Oh yeah I saw the warning but I quickly looked at how to do that and I'm perfectly fine doing anything like that

Ah thanks, PSU is the thing I know the least about / never really looked at any difference apart from I know that there are different connectors and different wattage, just now learned about the atx 2.x, 3.x stuff

Keep it 3.0 or better, since you're getting high-end components.

@Scyy these new AMD cards support PCIe 5.0 as does this board down below. ATX 3.1 psu and a cpu that runs cooler than the 9800x3D while giving you comparable performance.

@Why_Me oh, thanks for the info about the pcie 5.0 board and I'll def go with a atx 3.1 psu, though I don't really have the need to go for the older cpu gen, if I was on a budget, sure, but since that's not really an issue I'm fine with that

Since budget isn't an issue then both of these boards have better VRM's than that Asrock board.
