~~~ im making this in the general category, mainly because i dont urgently need the help, more to just talk about my experience with this printer and if anyone randomly has a solution. feel free to complain about printer issues of your own. ~~~
Hello, My name is @kuva and i have a Dell 1110 Monotone Laser Printer that i got for free at a garage sale some time ago.
Since then, i've only managed to get the thing working on about 2 or 3 machines, the drivers alone are a nightmare, and, i'm pretty sure can only work up to Windows 10. I did once find a 64-bit driver that worked for it form dell, but i can't seem to find it again, and i believe dell has since removed the download link from their site.  Additionally, i'm running low on toner and it prints strange lines.
I go through all this pain and suffering because it is like life on the shores of a misty lake in the northern lake compared to having to deal with a modern printer from the last era.
Old laser printers are indeed the way.  I have a Lexmark T630dn from 2003.  Still works today with built in Windows drivers.  Has a 21,000 page toner yield.
Anyone looking for a *new* laser printer needs to instead look for older workgroup printers.  They will outlast you.
Does this link not work or show up for you?
Had a Brother HL-2270DW since 2014, hasn't stopped working since. Been through 12 high yield aftermarket toners and 3 drum replacements. I've tossed it around for nearly 10 years. Finally upgraded to a Brother Compact Monochrome Laser Printer, HL-L2370DWXL because I thought it wasn't working anymore but it turns out I was just too stubborn to look up how to bypass the toner check and found out it still works 100%. So now I have to kickass working printers I can use and abuse.
The only other time I've had an issue with it was when I had a USB port and it turned out that it didn't have enough power to work with the printer so it kept not printing.. I've used usb hubs with both since and have had zero issues.
Hopefully that gives you some ideas to try? Cheers
Two words: Linux 😋
We had a Laserjet 6P (late '90s) that somehow we could keep using all the way to Win 7, maybe with a driver not intended for it, but Win 10 and later was a definitely no.
Then we booted off a Linux Mint USB and the Printer was set up on its own. It still works to this day - just not on Windows.
Ok this is going in a different direction, as I see the drivers that exist are for 32bit windows only.
Get a usb to network printer server adapter. this way the printer is shared online, however don't install it as that printer.
Use LPR print mode instead. here is a link on how to setup LPR in windows.
this might allow you to keep the printer kicking longer, and since its just black and white LPR should work and be ok speed. (LPR can be quite a bit slower)
Hope this points in in a different direction.
I daily drive fedora (kinda) -- unless i'm doing something wrong it seems to not work on linux either, it just needs some driver to work properly
Actually, that's a good idea. I'll have to try it.
