I have 4 sticks of DDR4 3200 MHz XPG Ram and an MSI B550M PRO VDH-WIFI. I originally only had 2 sticks for a total of 16gb and both of the sticks' rgb worked fine. However, I relatively recently upgraded to 4 sticks for 32gb and now only 2 of the 4 sticks light up. I have tried many different rgb softwares, including mystic light, and XPG Prime. Mystic light is what I currently use and it controls two of the sticks just fine, I just need help figuring out why the other 2 won't light up. The 2 that do light up are located in the A1 and B1 slots. I will attach a photo for further details. I will add an amazon link to the ram I have if that helps. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does the RAM function correctly despite this?

Have you tried swapping their positions?

Do you have another system you can test them with?

Yes other than the lighting the RAM is functioning properly and it shows that I am getting 32gb at the proper speeds. I have reseated them and switched them around and it seems to be just those two slots that the lighting doesn't work in. I unfortunately do not have another system I can test them in, my brother is building one soon but I am not sure just how soon that will be.

So its just the slots that don't work properly ? the ram lights up otherwise, right?

try resetting CMOS.

I did it and it still did the same thing. One of my friends brought up the fact that I purchased one set of RAM a year after the other set so maybe that was causing the issue. If that isn't the case I am assuming it is a motherboard issue. It isn't too big of a deal since I plan on upgrading to AM5/DDR5 eventually.

isn't the RGB on Ram powered by the EPS connector?.. some boards have more EPS plugs.. are all populated?

From what I understand the EPS connector is just the CPU power connecter, if so, then I only have 1 and it is plugged in.

I forgot the EPS on my board once.. and the ram didn't light up. 🤣 but they should all come from the same source.. so it's weird 2 don't work. BUT both are on the same channel that don't work, so can be something with power distribution to that channel. i would check the board for scratches.

Yeah I am thinking it is just a motherboard issue but I plan on upgrading to an AM5 board soon anyways so it isn't too big of a deal.
