I am looking into buying a DAC. I'm not really sure what to get. I am looking at a budget of around $75 US. I have heard about the Fiio E10 but those are pretty much impossible to find under $150. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sources would also be a help as amazon isn't the cheapest 100% of the time.

Get a syba dac amp, or a fiio d3 + fiio e5.

It will be miles ahead of your onboard if the onboard is bad, and it only costs ~40 usd.

I refuse to get a sound card as they never really do anything.

Then go with my suggestion, they do the same thing as an e10, and are half the price.

If you're still keen on the E10, I got mine about a month ago here: https://head-direct.com/Products/?act=detail&id=137

Try adding to cart and check out first, to find out about the shipping fee, though. Mine was $10, and I bought 1 other thing, shipped together, so it was a bargain.

Neither do any other products. Something like the E10 just solves the problems that soundcards and onboard had.

What Emorarity said. External DACs won't be magical compared to a sound card. You said your onboard is bad. To fix, get a solution that's not crap. A $30 solution is close enough to being audibly transparent. You're here to fix the deficiencies of your onboard, not to get an expensive solution for the sake of it.

Everybody suggests higher priced external solutions. Have you all blind tested your new solutions?

I mistyped, I meant the Modi. Why would I be suggesting an amp if he wants a DAC  :P

Because you need an amp more then a dac, you can't drive headphones off of a dac. More so, his headphones aren't worth spending more then $50 on an amp for unless there is something wrong with his current solution.

Why are you getting defensive? I'm not disagreeing with you. I'm just recommending a product that the OP asked for, not something he didn't.

I disagree,
