Suggestions for fans

Go to solution Solved by WoodenMarker,

Don't have those in my country only Scythe Slip Stream and no Noctua. :( Already fixed with Asus. It was a mistake by the shop. And for Noctua there's only Noctua NF-A14 FLX

NF-A14's are good. The R4 has 140mm fan mounts.

So as I assume it's a lie that positive pressure is better than equal or negative.

It's airflow, not pressure. Cases are not airtight.

Positive airflow pushes excess air though cracks instead of potentially sucking in dust like negative airflow. Equal intake and exhaust is best for performance as the movement of air is best used to move heat of the case.

You need to quote a post or tag a member or else they won't get a notification you replied to them.

Im going with the Fractal Design Define 4 R case and I want to fill it up with fans. It's gonna be 2 fans installed and I want to install all 6 fans. So what fans should I go? I was thinking about Corsair fans what are the good choices? In my country I only have those:

AEROCOOL

BE QUIET!

CHIEFTEC

Compucase

Cooler Master

Corsair

Fractal Design

Gembird

GTT

INTEL

MODECOM

Nexus

Powermax

Reflecta

Scythe

Spyre

Tacens

THERMALTAKE

TITAN

ZALMAN

i would advice against filling all fan mouting possitions

you will see little to no temperature decrease,

2 intakes and 1 outtake will be more then sufficient,

Be quiet! silentwings 2 are good fans

Okay so I found no Silent Wings 2 in my country shops so I think I'll just go With Corsair high air flow silent fans. Is that a good idea? And 2 intakes and 2 outtakes are bad? It would be taking air from the front and the bottom and would be blowing throught the back and the top. Would getting all the fans in be bad for airflow? And would it cause bad temperatures? If not I don't see why I shouldn't fit all the fans. Is there any minuses of having 2 intakes and 2 outtakes?

So his list doesn't include Noctua and people still recommend them... If you're going with Corsair get the quiet edition AF140's. Your spot on with intake front and bottom, exhaust* top and rear. How many intakes or exhausts you have doesn't matter. What matters is if you want negative airflow or positive airflow in your PC case. Negative = more exhaust than intake, positive = more intake than exhaust. This can be estimated by looking at the CFM the fans have. Positive airflow brings more dust into the case but shouldn't be a problem if you're using fan filters that you clean frequently.

>obligatory noctua recommendation, people complain about GT's getting recommended, but nobody apparently bothers to complain about the 5 noctua recommendations in almost every fan thread.

@op be quiet's are very good, and can be had at decent prices most of the time,if you like the look of Corsair's fans, make sure to get the QUIET EDITIONS.

No thats a bad idea, get the be quiets! corsair fans are not very good and especially the high airflow ones are very loud. Also you don't need to fill every fan spot.

what are you talking about, people on this thread complained about GT's AND Noctuas being recommended, the guy above you said "So his list doesn't include Noctua and people still recommend them". Plus the 2 who recommended noctuas, also recommended GT's in the same post! I know you hate noctua,  (i know you've had bad experience with them) but seriously, what you just said was purely because you hate noctua and nothing else.

I found Noctua fans in my country i'll list the model:

Noctua NF-A14 FLX

Loccilucas what part of I don't have Silent Wings 2 nor Pure Wings 2 in my country available for sale you do not understand? I already told you. And I don't want to go with Shadow Wings cause they're cheap and I would rather get Corsairs than those.

And the question for you guys is this fan any good? It's not a cheap one it's double the price of Corsairs. Also is there any reason I shouldn't fill all the fan spots? If I would put all the fan spots my airflow would be even I guess cause I would have 3 intake's and 3 outtakes is it bad? Is it good?

I don't hate Noctua, and never have I said I hated Noctua.  I hate people who blindly recommend them, and think they are the best fans on earth because the only other fan they've ever tried is the stock one that comes with their case, and that Linus loves them.

Then when given evidence they aren't the best fans on earth, and that many fans are better and cheaper, they accuse the testing of being fake lol.

This is the first time in a long while that Noctua recommendations were shot down, and the only reason why is because it wasn't on the guy's list.

Get the noctua's if they are available, and shadow wings are better than corsairs...you asked for people's opinion on what fan to get, and I gave you my option on what fan to get...

More intake than exhaust-positive pressure

More exhaust than intake-negative pressure

Both equal-equal pressure

Positive is better.

Alright fair enough, it is annoying when people blindly recommend things. The one that annoys me is

Q"can someone reccommend a CPU cooler, I won't be overclocking and don't want to spend much money?"

So as I assume it's a lie that positive pressure is better than equal or negative.

assuming your case has filters for intakes, positive pressure prevents dust build up.

air is filtered into your case > exhausted out the back.

positive pressure ensures that unfiltered air doesn't leak into your case through small holes in the case like pci brackets.
