Well, they do!

I must be a magnet for bad luck when it comes to my computers. About a couple months ago, my mobo partially died while flashing a new bios to my 7850. The board is an asus m5a99x evo rev 1. Now it wont load an OS of any kind (Windows or Linux). Narrowed the problem down to the motherboard by swapping every other component out with a known-to-be-good part (including CPU), blah blah still broken.

Contacted ASUS, got an RMA#, and sent my board back to be repaired. A week later got my board back, but it was literally my board that i had sent them. THey didn't do anything besides take it out of the box i sent it to them in (which was the retail box, kinda pissed about that one...) and put it in another box and shipped it back to me. Not sure they even tested it or tried to load an OS on it. Problem still persisted. Contacted them and they wanted to just do another RMA, I said that wasn't going to work because the repair center Im sending it to doesn't understand my problem. So they issued an Advanced RMA. How that works is they send you a repalcement first and then you send your unit back and dont see it again. But first they have to issue a stock check to see if they have it. I would think a stock check would be as simple as logging into their system and typing in the model number.. Apprently they use a team of highly trained monkeys to do the same thing, because its been 2 days since he issued a "stock check".  So sick of this back and fourth crap with them. I just want a board that works so I can use my damn computer! >:(

If they dont sort it out right this time, they can keep all of their boards and I'll buy an MSI  board.

Anyone else have an experience like this, with ASUS or another company?

I am whatever I am.

RMA's don't always suck...just with companies that have terrible customer service.  ASUS is pretty well known at being terrible for RMAs.

It's terrible.. I've had to RMA things before, and its never been the same unit i get back. I sent my ram back with the board and got a whole new kit in the same amount of time. My H60 was RMAd, new unit sent back. GPU was RMA'd, not only was it a new unit they upgraded me from a 6870 to a 7850. (not really an upgrade, more of newer rebrand). Asus is the only one thats caused me trouble.. I'm just irritated with them.

I'm in a RMA for a SHIELD that keeps breaking every month; best thing to do is hound them to make sure it gets back on time, or else they may not really care, and you might not see your parts for a long time.

I had both a mobo, and a VGA card die within a year; sent them to MSI, and a month later i get back two broken parts; i send them back again, and receive my replacements three weeks later!

At least they upgraded my system

Right now im in the process of RMA'ing a G27 that was "Defective" and its going to take a while... (they need to send me a postage stamp, through the mail... Which takes about 8-10 days... then I need to send mine back, then have them send another one......)

And now I regret buying an ASUS Board. No one said anything about ASUS being a bad RMA.... Fu*k

Its not really something you expect when you consider the quality of *some* of their products.. I replied to the ticket and said "Why is this stock check taking so long? Its been 2 days and I have not received an email yet. I may just buy another board so my computer is usable. Been almost 2 months since I could use my computer, 3 weeks of which are because of bad RMA service. "

Edit: Also, I like your siggy. I agree with it.

I rma'd a 650w PSU back to fractal because it had really bad coil whine in certain login screens and menus in games. I got sent back a 750w PSU in the 650w box that also has the same issue. :l

I shrugged and dealt with what I have because RMAs are a pain. I may eventually swap it out for a Seasonic unit in the future. If the coil whine happened at all times instead of few instances, I'd have taken a hammer to the thing.

That said, between this coil whining PSU and not being pleased with the Define R4's build quality, I'm now turned off from any future products from Fractal Design.

Yeah, there aren't many great companies out there with awesome RMAs.

I've had nothing but high praise for Corsair and EVGA in terms of my experience with their customer service and RMA process.  That's about it.  I've had good luck with Retail RMAs but that's a whole other topic.
