Extremely low cinebench score

Is this different? I didn't know there was a new version that adjusted the scores. I am using cinebench 2024.1.0. It just didn't seem right because on my 12900k pc I get around 22k for a score but on that pc I downloaded cinebench like a year or 2 ago

Yes. There's quite a few different revisions of Cinebench, and each of them have completely different scoring algorithms. For reference, a 13900K can do roughly 40k in R23, but jump over to 2024 and that score drops down to ~2200 points. Cinebench R23 is probably what you were running before on your 12900K system (22k does seem a little low for that chip there though), and that would account for the difference. If you notice the image it renders is a bit different, that's why, it's a completely different version with a completely different scoring.

I just finished a pc build with a 12600k, asrock b760 pro ddr5 mobo, 5600mhz c40 ram, and gtx 1650. I am getting a cinebench score of 972 for whatever reason. It is extremely low for a 12600k. Does anyone know why? There's 2 8pin connectors for the cpu and this power supply only has 1 8pin but even with only 1 8pin, that doesn't seem right. CPU temps max out at 70C during a cinebench test

What version of Cinebench? Have you monitored your CPU wattage and clock speeds during the run? That would be the first thing to look into I think. The dual CPU pins are usually only for heavy overclocking so I think you are right that it is not the issue.

This sounds like roughly the score you should be getting for Cinebench 2024 at least. Double check the version you're running.

Cinebench version 2024.1.0. I'll post a picture of open hardware monitor during a cinebench test
