2gb GPU or 4gb GPU?

Superblue309

What is the purpose of more VRAM?

Will it run games faster?

Will it run games the same?

more vram is better for higher resolutions so 4gb for high resolutions or more monitors or SLI and 2gb for 1080p one or two monitors and i don't think that it will run game faster to where you could notice it

Christian and Proud of it

Vram is used for multiple things, the most important function is to fill all the pixel you got on your screen(to put it easy) but it also helps with detailed textures in games, both when playing and developing. If needed 4gb Vram is better to recommanded(and easier to get on higher end cards) to get.

May the light have your back and your ISO low.

Depends what GPU mate, are we talking a full on GTX 780 Ti, Titan Black or are we talking about a GT 630? <insert AMD equivilents>.

If it's the same GPU, let's say a GTX 770, you won't notice any difference in terms of performance, but a greater amount of VRAM will only be good for handling higher resolutions or multiple monitors. I wouldn't bother getting a Graphics Card with double VRAM of it's sibling card (SAME GPU).

When overclocking, less memory is better. Gives you a better chance of all the chips being awesome.

760 or 770 or 780

As the guy above me said the 770 you wouldn't notice any difference, if the 770 doesn't benefit then a 760 won't but for multi-monitors and resolution the 780 will benefit it.

The reason why I typed 630 is because they did a 4GB version which I love to 'lol' at.

go in PC GAMING section of the forum and look at threads like ''watch dogs performance'' and stuff like that...GET A 4GB CARD FOR NEXT GEN GAMES CAN'T STRESS THIS ENOUGH EVEN AT 1080P THE GAMES WILL START USING MUCH LARGER AND MORE DETAILED TEXTURES IN-GAME AND REQUIRE MORE AND MORE VRAM!!! :P

If you are at 1080p 2 gb is fine.

NO!! that is no longer true, many games are/will use much more than 2GB at 1080p...it's not ALL about screen resolution...it's about TEXTURE RESOLUTION within the game itself!!!
