My buddy has an H510 10100 that I built for him but for various reasons I need to upgrade him again.  What is the best bang for the buck to get something comparable or better with no other considerations than price and equal or better performance.  I looked at getting him a new motherboard but they're all $200 which I refuse to spend that much on a 10th gen board.  Oh.... The only consideration is either built in wifi and/or ATX form factor so the gpu I got him and the wifi adaptor can both work in the same system.

Grab a Ryzen 5600 and a B450 motherboard.  You can reuse the RAM.

PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600 3.5 GHz 6-Core Processor  ($120.29 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: ASRock B450M/ac R2.0 Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard  ($69.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $190.28

*So now that I'm drunk and my friend isn't sitting here I want to explain why I'm doing the upgrade, not that it matters at all but I feel like using my new keyboard and I'm drink.  He is one of my very oldest friends and has Aspergers syndrome, he's my fish friend.  And his room mate who is takeig advantage of him for his own reasons (afraid to go outside etc) has a machine that I built out of spare parts but it won't run Win11 as it stands.  I know that TPM modules are a thing but I think he needs more than a.... G4560? I think, it's a 6th or 7th gen intel.  So I'm going to build my friend a more competent machine and let him hand me down the 10100 that he has now.  Sometimes I hate being solely responsible for others tech, which is why I said.... dude your room mate is on his own now after multiple late night trips to my house with his tower in hand.  I think that everything minus his room mates case and the internet router is from me.  With alllllll of that said, for the price of a new keyboard I can get my old friend an upgrade and help him out with his room mate that he cares about.

*oh and the reason I needed the ATX and/or wifi is because his mAtx case barely fits the A380 and wifi adapter as is and the 8G A770 won't fit both.  I ordered him a riser cable that'll be there on Tuesday but I don't want to settle when I know that I can easily upgrade both of them.

Thank you very much for the suggestion.  I marked it as the solution because it's obvious to me that nothing can beat this combo.  I was just to drunk to realize it plus I enjoy relying on the expertise of other forum goers instead of braining to hard.  It's nice to get interaction and know that I can trust others who make it a hobby about knowing things.

That's what we're here for, to share what we know and learn even more.  Glad to help.

best to buy the 5600(x) used as those float around the 80$ mark or add another 26$ to get a 5700x3d for 146$ off aliexpress which is still a really good gaming cpu especially for stuff like factorio or other simulation games
