Decided to use my TV PC as my desktop. CPU is not as good, but GPU was better.

11700KF

Z590 Tachyon

32gb 8 Pack Dark DDR4

Cooler Master Cryo 360 TEC

6950XT with Bitspower Premium CNC block

Thor PSU

All Bitspower tanks and fittings, 360mm rad for GPU.

Various SSDs

Lian Li Odyssey X

All Lian Li fans

Lots of RGB, and I mean a lot.

CNC pump cover (made on my machine)

poZFUT4.jpg

Gm4K31A.jpg

A video of the finished internals.

And then move onto the external. For this I am making a very large RGB lit plate as a 1:1 of the internal tanks and loop.

So carbon. Real forged carbon.

ypG6YZG.jpg

And wood. Real wood.

bhSCrne.jpg

Then design.

aQAwnyz.png

5mm cast silver. Note, the carbon and wood will be machined into inlays to go inside.

mpjHfBI.jpg

That is now done. Onto the 5mm cast Opal white.

G0DTD5p.png

I shall be machining this on Friday. I will update then.

OK so that is my small pieces all drawn up and put into Easel.

uAwpmQd.png

Obs the carbon will be last as I need to move the machine. Might do it in a bit tbh, now it is just cuts on thin pieces.

If you were wondering where it will live. Front and centre on the case. Here. (well, the PC on the right lol)

gVj76LC.jpg

Ignore the cluster of mess on there. It too is currently a work in process, and shall be getting  wrapped with this.

UmPNHNz.jpg

That was actually the first thing that was supposed to happen before the new monitor, speakers, amp, stands, keyboard and mouse. Oh and this entire build of the GPU loop. I always get side tracked.... Scratch chin.

Thanks dude.

I began filing and edge sanding on the silver piece last night. I got half way around before calling it quits so I’ll crack on with that today.

Tomorrow will be the last day of stress machining so I’ll be glad when I don’t have to babysit the machine all day.

I realised last night I did not  go into a lot of detail about any of it. Time.. time is the enemy.

The larger bottom one is indeed a res. The others are flow meters. I already had one I bought years ago, and the others were on sale for £9.99 each. My kinda price 😄

1miezBk.jpg

They are held together with Barrow rotary fittings. Not the easiest thing to do, but I got there. The problem with these flow meters is that they are notorious for restricting the flow. All because of how the stop fittings go in.

xcdYtsC.jpg

So that these don't spin.

3Wx8rxO.jpg

It's very daft. So, I fitted an extension and port polished them out with a dremel.

Zpre0Wg.jpg

Wherever they met or the inlet port. I also removed the blades etc. Makes a lovely cascade now. Kinda like the very large sponsored builds with tons of reservoirs in, but at an affordable price for the laymen like myself.

Yesterday I set off the machine on a nearly 4 hour job. It failed. Was all my fault as usual. So, to cut down machine time I am going to cut the channels for the wires and LEDs completely out of 5mm opal.

Hyu0Sog.png

50 mins est. And then just make a back cover out of either 3mm solid white or the leftover carbon sheet. IDK yet.

dVNNZPI.png

19 mins est. More my limit on the racket it makes 😄

OK slowed down the feed rate and plunge rates. Took about 30 mins.

pJO728f.jpg

Came out lovely. Doesn't match perfectly as I had to do a lot of filing to the silver one, but I can live with it for sure.

MBcsx4k.jpg

So it is just the mid piece to do now. Will tackle that in a couple of weeks when I am back at the machine.

  • 2 months later...

OK finally some more done. My screen and the cable (Strimer) arrived. Screen will be mounted  to the front of the build, Strimer modded into two 8 pin EPS (Lian Li do not sell those, I will make my own)

SqBURE2.png

I bought some black extensions but they are too thick for the Strimer LED things. I need to make some cables no doubt.

Any way, for now I am back on the "feature" LED RGB thing. I have now finished  the middle piece, and drilled tapped and countersunk it. The back  is now removable.

hfkDwck.jpg

4ctx6RU.jpg

yVFcduY.jpg

Quite terrifying but I basically clamped the two together after marking  out the 3mm back (lots of clamps) then drilled through both  to 2.5mm, then removed the back and drilled it to 3.2mm and countersunk, before finally putting a M3 tap in the drill and tapping  the holes in the middle part.

The top face part will be glued down to the middle part later. I need to fix in the wood and carbon permanently first.

I did  bring  all my soldering tools with me, so there is that.

Oh god what a happy bonus (note, 14th gen ready)

RTkf9cr.jpg

It has no bios flashback so I was pooping my pants  thinking I might have  to take my 12700k out of the PC it's in.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LoqNEKIiiSI

So aye. Two custom made black EPS cables and a Strimer, and one finished RGB thing. Will hook up the EK screen shortly to make sure it is good. I am hoping Lconnect shows on that and scales...

rr6qh4u.png

If not I will have to buy AIDA and pee around making my own.

OK. So I got bored and bought an air cooler. £15.99.

KZlBYpw.jpg

Basically I am not at home I am at my mother's. I have a room there. Have been over for Xmas.

I fitted the NVME drive I got into the middle slot (the PCIE 3  one, as it's  a  PCIE 3 drive). I then took the heatsink from the top slot and flipped it 180  so it would fit. The big cooler will be in the top slot any way.

4d6gmL2.jpg

Fit  cooler.

E2OwB0z.jpg

Then update  the BIOS.

eBqHL2k.jpg

At which point I tried to install Windows. But it failed as the board has no WIFI. So, I used the  workaround. Press  F12 + Shift, then enter OOBE\BYPASSNRO.

This got  me past that. I then tethered my phone to it for WIFI and installed all of the drivers and  software. I then fitted the water block, booted it very quickly to test before packing it away.

I will resume when I get home at the weekend 🙂

OK one last treat. A gen 4 NVME. The 512 will not be fitted, instead I will have the 1tb in there now for Windows and two 2tb NVME with the latter reserved (the gen 4) for modern games.

DdMBs2O.jpg

I got  a nice deal  on that.

Good afternoon.

I didn't want to make this post yet as I am sat on the floor with a really bad back lmao. Problem is the photos were building up and otherwise it would have turned into a monster post.

So to catch up. I got home on Friday and started to strip the PC down.

After which I installed the new second rad.

IfB4xzW.jpg

End tanks are linked down here.

v2qPjkD.jpg

Not much else needed changing apart from a new return line. That is up here.

kzwxprO.jpg

The new SSD and cooler came just before I left.

KB1Wbo5.jpg

And so.

TMLBVok.jpg

IBmLaRF.jpg

Unfortunately I had a spill and the GPU had to come apart and be dried and rebuilt into the block, as well as all of the boards and stuff in the bottom.

Then I fitted the board.

8s2kiVp.jpg

The long return hose will go into the CPU block at the top... I think the hardest part of that was fitting and positioning the Strimer EPS that never existed and stopping it fouling the fan. I got there eventually, however. Now obviously the rest was a known entity at this point, so about 7 hours later and it was back in one piece.

bWf3lAq.jpg

z4oX8WF.jpg

It is still enormously stealthy on the hoses which was awesome.

P87ew3o.jpg

K5ahiUB.jpg

wbv4IDE.jpg

And then a side quest. I rebuilt my Hunstman Elite a while ago using phantom caps from Razer after two sets failed to fit. I have a spare now which is nice. However, the wrist pad pleather was rotten and falling to pieces. Cue Ferrari coloured leather.

swkvxnW.jpg

Then.

RO1hMdL.jpg

Before finally

8mghlaG.jpg

This is why they are called phantom caps.

rKW7qfl.jpg

OK so why am I not working on it and finishing it? well, it seems I have a jonesing for pain.

SMnnPc3.jpg

Ugh. The reason for this extra pain is I want it done and never have to do it again. I will leave you with this parting shot. Totally too bright and over blown, hence why I have not showed the new lighting scheme. I will have to darken the final pics to make it match the real world.

rg3EzZ5.jpg

Until next time....

OK so to finalize this stage.

Many many hours of wiring. I know it looks awful, but there is just nothing you can do when faced with so much. Tidy safe and able to fit the panel is going to have to be good enough.

7MeX5kD.jpg

Note carefully where the front monitor wires go. There is literally just enough room there to get them through. So like I said, ugly? yes. Right? also yes. They come out like this.

c6zrTFR.jpg

It was there I realised something. The screen was not going to work on the floor with the PC plugged into the TV. There is only one HDMI out, and the TV was using it. I did try plugging it into the onboard with limited success. IE I got to see it working but it was refusing to see the GPU as monitor 1. I knew when moved to the desktop it would be fine, but obviously because of that it would not work as intended until it was back on the desk.

So with the worst part done it was time for a wedgie.

jVo4WGR.jpg

Which took several attempts. I got it there in the end, though.

Turn him back around.

CYhY9Zq.jpg

Inside pics. The silver fan shrouds are gone, they distracted from the Proart IO cover IMO.

TRDu0bu.jpg

TiNtDqv.jpg

Besides with the additional silver and acrylic on the block it didn't need it.

bkGORLb.jpg

Note I do not have the LEDs on in those pics. This is because the red LEDs look pink and washed out on photos for some reason. "Booting rainbow farts" though, look fine.

qZB2KeU.jpg

8RHvDnr.jpg

With the very dark glass on it looks much better with the red active. The front thing looks too bright, though. IRL it looks completely different to this.

d476qfy.jpg

JWUAQPG.jpg

OK so after 10 hours of Indy I realised I really should use the TV PC next to it, or it would remain there for gawd knows how long. So this morning I buttoned it up.

uTfXaqa.jpg

HuoItje.jpg

oNfe7Vn.jpg

JuURaUL.jpg

And then finally moved it into place. At which point the screen was connected and set up successfully.

tBoPJ8U.jpg

And.

23rti7Z.jpg

OK so things needing to be done still. I don't like the hole in the side of the monitor on the front panel. Obviously they had to do that, but it looks crap. So I need to machine a couple of side plates to be attached to cover them over. Other than that? I would say it is pretty much spot on.

So next it is onto where we began, the desk itself. Well, after my lil N64 project I have cooking.

Until next time.......
