CPU hitting 72c at idle

Budget (including currency): 400$

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Looks?

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): You can open the pcpartpicker list to see what is already bought

My current setup is:

Case: h710i

CPU cooler: scythe fuma 3

Fans: 3 nzxt case fans front and one on the back

So after installing my vertical gpu mount my CPU temps started idling at 60-70, *before installing the vertical gpu temps were idling at 50 max* so I have decided to upgrade my case and and go for the aesthetics. Please give me any suggestions on the list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3pjLh3

I think im missing a rgb controller but I don't know which one is compatible with my fans

I'd make sure my thermal paste hasn't dried out and the cooler is making proper contact, before buying anything.

My first suspicion here would be that the cooler isn't tightened correctly resulting in improper contact. Working on the GPU might've actually moved it around a bit resulting in even worse contact.

I have reinstalled my cpu and repasted the thermal paste *I tightened the cpu firmly* . I still get the same temps.

Figured that out but not as much as a 20-30c increase thats why im looking for suggestions to improve my case and air flow.

Any suggestion for what I want would be helpful, thank you guys.

Check your power settings on CPU and GPU. One of them might have been set to a higher setting than what they were previously causing the idles to go up.

if all you did was move the gpu vertical then it has to be the gpu.

unless there missing info your not telling us about.

also some people dont no what "idle" is

was the room temp the same when it was horizontal?

thoghts

current setup case is not vary good im guessing why the upgrades in case and cooler

current vertical mount seems good for airflow as the gpu not close to the side at all so thats not a problem. is the case good for vertical air flow... 🤷‍♂️ air flow is all mixed up and can be hard to dial it. this case would be Brut force of air i guess.

idle what is it. your push the power button and get to the desktop and open a temp program thats it. now there could be other things running in the back ground like steam downloading or windows up or w/e that is not in an idle state.  not saying you dont no the difference but people have in the passed not understand what it is.

put the gpu back to horazontal and see if problem is fixed.

most modren gpus these days use vary little power fans not spinning and like 200 mhz when in idle so i should not be putting much heat but i dont.

What I mean by idle is that my ambient room temp is around 25c, and as for the apps im using is literally only chrome with running few tabs. *let the pc run for 12 days* and I still get the same issue.

as you said my gpu fan is not even spinning this is why im confused even if I follow the same logic from the picture you sent. Video Card Coolers: Blower vs Open-Air vs AIO - Logical Increments Blog

I mean honestly if this happens I guess more performance for me which is a good thing 😅.

That is not idle.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Is it possible that your exhaust is placed backwards?

Also as others have pointed out, running chrome is not idle. It actually takes a fair amount of resources.

72c isn't particularly hot while processing. You've got a good number of fans. Are you getting throttled when you're under load?
