PC cycles with displayport but boots with HDMI
1 hour ago, beckst04 said:Pretty much the title. I recently was having no issues with my gaming PC connected to a Samsung LC27G75TQSNXZA through displayport. Thought it'd be fun to give Bazzite (Steam OS clone) a try, so I went to install that without issues. I go to reboot and... broken.
Since then, my PC refuses to post over the same displayport. It works just fine over HDMI, but the displayport cable leads to peripherals and the monitor turning on and off without end. I've tried updating the BIOS, I've tried updating my monitor's firmware, I've installed a different OS, and nothing works. There is a chance while I was installing Bazzite that I rebooted while something was still installing; it wasn't clear. But to my knowledge it would've only been a software installation. Can't imagine why that would affect the displayport functionality, but my knowledge on display tech is lacking. Any input would be really appreciated.
My build is below:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800x
RAM: F4-3600C16D-32GVKC
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7900XT
Mobo: Asus TUF Gaming X570-Pro (Wi-Fi)
Maybe try a new cable? Or if you haven't. Reset monitor on osd. Turn off PC and turn off PSU. Pull power from monitor. Connect monitor and GPU. Use DisplayPort 1 on GPU. If installed in normal tower case and GPU fans facing down its the the first left port on the GPU. Turn on monitor and turn on PSU and then PC.
