Chronological vs Release order

I've been wanting to binge all the X-Men movies but upon researching the release and chronological order, they both are very different. Others also have different opinion on how the chronological order should be and now I'm all confused. So should I try watching it in release order? Or in chronological order, whatever it may be.

I tend to watch things in release order, IMO leaving holes and coming to fill them back later is kinda part of the story development...

I watched the chronologically. No reason not to now that the movies are all out.

Release order, as when the movies were made there weren't always the ideas of prequels etc.  This makes watching it in release order a better experience for the most part as you won't lose out on spoilers of things later in the franchise as later releases might inform you of it [in less dramatic fashion].

 

e.g. The whole "I am your father" in Starwars hits so much better if you watch it in release order [and makes the prequels better as you know where Anakin is going].

 

The thing that I do though, I will generally watch in release order and then later on go back and watch it in chronological order.
