What power supply do I need???

Go to solution Solved by daemonowner,

FX6300 has a 95W TDP, 260X uses probably no more than 170W. How about the 80Plus Gold Seasonic G-Series 360W? It's not too expensive given the low Wattage. Corsair's CX430 would be a decent cheaper option.

Hi I am thinking about building a pc with something around these specs:

AMD FX6300 Black edition Asus M5A97 EVO R2.0 HyperX 2x4GB WD Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5 inch Saphire Amd R7 260X   NZXT Phantom 410 Midi Tower

But I have absolutely no idea what powers supply; I'd like it to be good value but don't really mind if it's modular or not.

Thx in advance  :)

with those specs, you don't need much. That looks like it would be sub 300 watts when fully pushed to the limit. Any quality psu between 300w and 500w will do for that.

i'd go for 450w at least so you could upgrade your parts later on without hhaving to upgrade your PSU

You can head over to Cooler Master's page or Extreme OuterVision and calculate it yourself (the second one provides more options) or just select your parts at PCPartPicker.com.

The results show about 320-350w, so a 400-450 would be fine.

Thx for replying so quickly. I think i'll go for the corsair cx 430 to give me a little room for expansion and it's also quite cheap!

Thanks
