My parents have been using 4g Sim card wireless networking for year from the same provider but recently their ping and latency have gotten massive, if I remember correctly then the last time, when I tested it, the ping was like 40-60 but now its anywhere from 40-900. I thought that it was the router, so I replaced that but the problem's still there. Could this be an ISP issue?

Thanks in Advance

Could you please do a continuous ping 2 tests.

Open up CMD twice and run this command.

  • ping 1.1.1.1 -t
  • ping 8.8.8.8 -t

And post the results and if the results are terrible, You'll need to speak to the provider, there could be an issue on their side

@Kuldar_Joel

You can rule out your own local area network being the culprit by pinging your router as well. This is done in PowerShell.

This is the nature of using cellular services for an internet connection. Your parents are not the only ones connecting to that 4G tower after a year. Plus, some remote towers may be wirelessly interconnected back to the carrier's data center, which will definitely increase latency.

While you might be able to get high speeds and the ability to say that you have internet access on any cellular service, you will sacrifice on latency at some point. Rebooting the modem or repositioning it are temporary solutions, but the problem will return due to how variable latency can be.

If you want to reduce high latency, you'll have to consider DSL, coax or fiber, provided it's available in your area.
