I can't see it being a problem mate, the GTX 660's aren't even that long. Take a picture of the inside of your case and post it in here.

All of the cards you mentioned will fit and a 550W power supply will be plenty enough.

The R9 270 beats the 660 by good a margin it also comes with 2 games for free, mantle support and it runs cooler & quieter than the 660.
Avg-Perf.png

The 270X & 270 are identical, the 270X just comes with a higher clock speed out of the box.

I have a 500W PSU and I run an R9 280X. lol. But my PSU is relatively high quality, though honestly my PSU is still a budget variant. Mine is an FSP FSP500-60APN.

Most R9 270s are less than 10 inches long and will be around as long as the card you have in that case right now. But if you can, get an R9 270X. It's still a bit faster than the R9 270. Definitely worth the $20 price difference imo, even if the primary difference is just clockspeed.

P.S. Your case needs a good clean up. Cable management would be a good idea too using some tape and cable ties.

AMD cooler and quieter than the NVIDIA, I find that incredibly difficult to believe.

Really but they don't run loud or hot either, if you had said Fermi then fair enough

Again this misconception, the R9 290/290X with reference coolers were the hot ones, lower end R9's, that is, 280X and below run a fair bit cooler.......especially now with a plethora of 3rd party coolers available. Heck, my HD7970 (a 280X is a rebadged and tweaked HD7970) idles at 35C with load temps not exceeding 70C.
