Best F2P FPS?

Planetside 2 is probably the best developed but that free ghost recon is pretty good to.

Perhaps Counter Strike and the rest of the series. Besides that I loved Combat Arms and Alliance of Valiant Arms.

Team Fortress 2. My favorite FPS aside from Quake and Counter-Strike. I preferred it before it went F2P, but it's still a good game.

Planetside 2 is awesome, but i think the currency model needs to be updated, i'd like to be able to buy currency cards, like itunes cards, i dont like using my credit card all the time

Choice for the short term jumping on for a quick splash of damage type game?

Choice for the long term focused engagements type game?

You could use the same game for both but this might give a better answer to people looking for ^ those specifics.

 

Short Term Romp of Fun - Hawken/Blacklight Retro

Long Term Romp of Fun - Planetside 2/Blacklight Retro

 

I said Hawken because only having one or two classes (mechs) it can get lacking in variety over long periods.

Planetside 2 is mentioned as long term because while you can "solo" it for short bursts of time, it really is more fun, meaningful and just way more awesome with a team of people over a night time of playing.

I said Blacklight on both because depending how you take the "rent guns" model of playing, you could stick it out or only play casual.

None of the above. Hawken is almost good though. A bit too simple for me but definitely solid.

i put arctic combat because my friend loves it and would probably yell at me if I did not include it in some way.

arctic combat is fairly nice. the netcode is obviously 10x better than lagops2, but apart from that it is nothing special. textures are bad, especially on player models, and animations are clunky and not fluid enough to match todays standards. just a remake, not revolutionary at all.

Definitely Tribes: Ascend or TF2. I've been a long time Tribes player so I couldn't say a better F2P game.

Yeh, planetside 2 is probably the best but its a close call with tf2, and if you go by how many hours I've put in I have put in four times as many in tf2 so, yeh.
