these are just reflections... i agree it looks horrible but that isnt an oled issue that's because you bought a glossy screen lol.

Oled does not look identical to ips. That is just not possible as ips has massive glow on dark sections.

good ips doesn't... but i agree, it doesn't look identical though,  i find oled way too oversaturated in general,  ips all the way (alternatively plasma, but *not* oled)

I'd take a crt hd monitor over oled, that's how much i hate it lol.

This is a spec problem with Samsung's QD OLED displays. They lack a polarizer layer, so ambient light is reflected all over the screen, increasing black levels more than any other display technology or display coating. It's imo the biggest drawback QD-OLED has over other display technologies, combining the drawbacks of both matte and glossy, while bringing only some of the advantages of glossy screens. They are doing this to stay competitive with LG's OLED panels. If Samsung were to fix this and start using a polarizer, it would come at the expense of brightness, which is something they cannot afford in the current market context.

LG's glossy OLED panels and all other glossy screens I've seen so far don't have this problem and look completely black, even in a bright room. Even darker than matte screens, because this surface absorbs ambient light much better than matte, which scatters ambient light over a wider area.

Oversaturation has nothing to do with OLED. IPS and VA displays can be just as oversaturated, if not more so. Oversaturation is a byproduct of a display having a very wide color gamut and the brand deciding not to limit it to the color space that most normal content is mastered for. (sRGB / Rec.709) It's similar to how "Vivid" is the default picture mode for many TVs out of the box. They are trying to wow potential customers with vibrant colors. The widest gamut displays on the market are still IPS, so they have the greatest potential for oversaturation. If anything, LG's OLED panels in particular are less prone to oversaturation because they have a smaller color gamut and less color volume compared to high-end IPS and QD-OLED.

I don't even know why you bring up plasma of all the display technologies. OLED is considered a direct upgrade over plasma, and it is an upgrade in every single way. The fact that not a single new plasma TV is being sold should be proof enough.

You can hate OLED if you want, but please be reasonable and at least hate it for it's actual drawbacks, not invent new ones.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

well - yes - im just saying ive never seen an oled that looks good, hence i wouldn't buy one... its not my fault sellers and manufacturers cant set up their screens properly...

with ips it takes me 2 minutes to "calibrate" how I want...

likewise with reflections i have never seen a glossy screen that doesn't reflect like crazy, i guess I'll have to take your word for it but from my experience i cant confirm either of these claims.

Coincidentally, i have a "glossy" oled phone screen, can't say I'm impressed with the colors (im not), reflections are an issue, on the other hand its actually bright enough to still be visible in most outdoor conditions, so that's the only positive i can say about "oled", it seems to be ever so slightly more bright than my previous ips phone screens.

tldr: i know for sure i prefer ips, plasma and even crt over oled, and i know why... its overall a much more pleasant viewing experience with more natural colors, i would even say oleds "blacks" which means no light at all are their biggest downfall,  irl absolute black rarely occurs,  hence it looks very unnatural on a screen.

That the reason I avoid ASUS monitor now after my previous OLED from them, ASUS just can't calibrate it proper, my monitor only look ok after very long time wait ASUS fix it and that time I already decide and sold it.

Since your return policy already over period, I think you either selling it off or wait many months from ASUS to fix it.

I know QD-OLED due to less of polarize and this will make black not true black in bright lighting when compare with WOLED, but yours seems worse than it supposes, it is not only not true black but inconsistence in the dark area especially at the border corner and it is not the reflection. I also owned QD-OLED and it is not like this in bright room but just a bit purplish on the black and not inconsistence like bleeding on the border corner.
