Anybody Have Any Recommendations for a Sub-27000 mAh Portable Power Bank?

Go to solution Solved by Aleph256,

Anker does a prettty good 20k mAh lineup, though you might want to look up their own site - depending on the region, Amazon can make for a hefty premium since 3rd-party resellers.

Pretty much as the title says.  I'm looking for something that'll be portable (i.e. fits in my jeans pocket and isn't so heavy it weighs down my pants), but also with the most power available while still being allowed on airplanes, which sets the max at 27000mAh, or 100 watts.

I looked on Amazon, but I was told to be careful because not all the listings are of battery banks with their advertised capacity, so in the interest of trying to sort through that noise, I figured I'd ask it here.  What do you all recommend these days?

About 4 years ago I got a 20000mAh battery bank from an obscure company (but it was about £20 since it was prime day) and it's been amazing. Enough to charge all three phones in our family from dead.

The powerbank itself doesn't charge amazingly fast but it charges all three of our phones quite quickly. Enough to charge all three phones in our family from dead.

it was essentially something like this but a more obscure company name, UGREEN is quite a reputable company so this should be a high quality product. It is on amazon but it's one of the better names on there for battery banks. Anker and Belkin are also good

Amazon.com: UGREEN 100W 20000mAh Power Bank, Nexode Portable Charger USB C 3-Port PD3.0 Battery Pack Digital Display, for MacBook Pro/Air, iPad, iPhone 15 Pro, Galaxy S24 Ultra, Steam Deck, Dell XPS and More : Cell Phones & Accessories

product dimensions imply it's pretty compact, should be perfect for you

product page also says it's only 15 ounces, around 450 grams so sounds light enough as well. Around the same as mine

Is this powerbank for a laptop or just smaller devices such as phones or tablets?

Mostly for phones and tablets, but it turns out my M1 MacBook Air has a similar capacity to my phone, which is around 5000mAh.  This seems like a good option and gives me some more guidance.  Thanks!

Project Farm channel does quite interesting tests, like for power banks:

Anker 737?

INIU B61?

Different pluses.

Pretty sure legal limit is 100wh, not 100 watts or 27000mah.

27000mAh capacity multiplied by nominal lion cell voltage of 3.7v would net you 99900wh.

There tons of power banks that fit that bill. I also don’t expect any of my power banks to have the capacity they advertise. I got couple Xiaomi power banks that I carry around.

If you need PD3/4 compatible power banks they are usually always at the airline limit of 100wh

Also, check your flight/airline to see if you can plug in the phone/laptop etc on the place. Some do.

we really need to stop using mah to measure battery capacity. The macbook air has a ~50wh battery which is much bigger than most phonse that are in the 10-20wh range.

That's ultimately what I ended up doing, but Target had it cheaper than Anker.

Agreed, cause depending on the battery, everyone uses a different measurement it feels like.  It was pretty tricky figuring out what volt-amps actually translated to when buying a UPS a couple years ago, for example.  Thankfully I got the right one of those.

Glad to have helped.

And now I have learned of Target's existence.
