ROG Flow X13 $700 (no dGPU model)

ASUS ROG Flow X13 13.4" Touchscreen Gaming Laptop 1920 x 1200 FHD AMD Ryzen 9 with 16GB Memory 512GB SSD Off Black GV302XA-X13.R9512 - Best Buy

Great option as a 2 in 1 device, considering its packing a monster of a CPU, the 7940HS. Charges off of type-c versus a barrel type connector like most laptops in its category.

This product was probably designed to be paired with their XG Mobile eGPU. It makes it a niche product even though it packs the extremely capable 780M iGPU. More of a productivity laptop that can game without sacrificing portability/battery life for a dGPU.

I'm confused, does this have the 7940HS CPU or the 6900HS CPU?

GPU: XFX RX 7900 XTX

Its the 7940HS, you can always validate it by the model number that Best Buy lists.

As the owner of an XG Mobile until a few days ago, this is absolutely the way it was designed. The dGPU versions of the x13 with NVidia GPUs and AMD iGPUs are a CLUSTERFUCK with the XG Mobile. It literally only runs smoothly with the APUs, any other GPU and it's SHOT.

This applies to the 3080 and 6850M models, not sure about the 4090 model since so few people own it.

I can't imagine how bad it would be with the Gen 1 X13, which would need both Intel, NVidia, and AMD drivers all in one device...

TBH, having all 3 GPU drivers installed isn't crazy. I've had that on my rig between my 4090, A380, and RX 6600 when testing. Didn't bother uninstalling the drivers till I was done testing.

Probably not in a desktop, but it is when they're all fighting with Windows on which one is the 'power saving' GPU and which one is the 'performance' GPU.

If you try to disable one dGPU to make the switch smoother, Asus' software just won't recognise the XG mobile lol

For what it's worth, it works flawlessly on an ROG Ally

I wish they made the AMD refresh of that since I have a friend who'd buy an XG mobile for his Ally, which is his only gaming PC (console gamer) but $2k is hard to swallow. If they made the 7600MXT or w/e like what's used in the eGPUs popping up and priced it competitively, they'd likely sell like hot cakes.

Wish I saw this. I just sold my XGM for $850 on eBay, and it was significantly cheaper here on the LTT classifieds lol. Got it on March 15, it was only used 4 times.

Was it not worth it? What device did you buy it for?

I bought it with my X13 but then realised that they were selling for $900 or more on eBay, and I could build an entire gaming PC for that price that was faster.

Then I got a deal on a 4080 and got really carried away lol.

It was actually kind of crazy what happened. I bought the X13 and the XGM in a bundle for $1300, but the XGM was defective. I RMAed it, and Asus sent me a new one with an entire new X13.

And then they sent me another X13 and ANOTHER xgm.

So I ended up with 3 laptops and 2 eGPUs.

Sold one laptop and one XGM to my friend, and sold the other XGM and laptop on eBay. Kept one.

My laptop ended up being free, and it covered the $1400 I needed for my gaming PC too lmao.

Amusing to think people are all up in arms about Asus repair service being pushy with the ROG Ally and yet this allegedly happened.

They fucked up a number of times before this happened.

I RMAed my XGM a grand total of 3 times. The first 2 times, they sent it back to me with a new power cable... Didn't even test it. The 3rd time, they kept it for 2 months.

And then sent 2 replacement units, each with its own X13 attached.
