are these aio temperatures normal?

danomat

I have the corsair LINK H150i RGB and a ryzen 7 7800x3D.

and when im doing nothing on my pc it sits around 50°C to 57°C.

when i start pubg it goes to 90°C then goes down to 60°C to 70°C.

Ingame i get 70°C to 85°C.

in icue i have set the fans to balanced.

i dont know if this is normal since i have never used an aio bevor.

Should be able to get lower temps. Make sure the standoffs for the AIO is firmly mounted to the motherboard (all the way down). And don't be scared to tighting the mounting screws as well after applying thermal paste. For even better contact might want to consider getting a contact frame like this: https://www.thermalright.com/product/am5-secure-frame-black/

yeah, you shouldn't be 30c over ambient.

Either the AIO is configured wrong, or you've got the block mounted poorly.

There's no such thing as "99% sure I mounted it correctly" with temps like this.

Make sure that the pump and fan speed are not set too low at the temps you're seeing.

the fan speed is set on balance and the pump is set on extreme.

i tried quiet balanced and extreme which changes the speed of the fans and pump but barely changes the temps.

I could post some pictures of the aio.

If changing fan speeds didn't do it, then it's mountned poorly, or the AIO is defective.

But more likely it's mounted wrong.

here is a picture of the block i cant see anything wrong with it.

I tightened the screws with my fingers.

unless u have a solid front panel in the case: front mounting an AIO is free 6-10c in cpu temps

That top left screw at least doesnt look like its providing any tension on that bracket unlike the one beside it which seems to be providing at most adequate tension, you wont be any to get nearly enough torque by finger tightening, you need to tighten with a screwdriver

You have two choices:

Take it off and remount and see if it goes any better, or deal with very high temps.

arguing with people on a forum isn't gonna fix your temps, and nothing else seems like it's wrong.

BCFs don't help much for AMD but an offset mount might if the cooler isn't centered over the chips.

I think you "meant are not set too low. "

Did you remove the plastic barrier on the cold plate and apply thermal paste if it wasn't pre-applied?

Finger-tight is highly subjective and not necessarily good. Try remounting and use a screwdriver once your fingers can't turn it. Once you feel significantly more resistance, you'll know you're done.

I've been using computers since around 1978, started learning programming in 1980 on Apple IIs, started learning about hardware in 1990, ran a BBS from 1990-95, built my first Windows PC around 2000, taught myself malware removal starting in 2005 (also learned on Bleeping Computer), learned web dev starting in 2017, and I think I can fill a thimble with all that knowledge. 😉 I'm not an expert, which is why I keep investigating the answers that others give to try and improve my knowledge, so feel free to double-check the advice I give.

My phone's auto-correct is named Otto Rong.🤪😂
